I’ve played on a couple different accounts since earlier Wrath and never once seen a complaint about flying. Now I am not saying there wasn’t but if there was it was very few.
Too bad. They did it, they regret it, now they should deal with it like adults, and like they care about the player base.
Also, every expansion is already designed for flight because they know they are going to eventually unlock it. Making us wait this long is a real jerk move.
You pro-flyers do like your fallacies don’t you. Are you aware that when a tree falls and no one is there to hear it hit the ground, it does in fact make a sound.
The boards used for wrath no longer exist. We will see what the wayback machine shows though.
As for the previous version of the forums.
I made sure to go grab some before WoD and pathfinder. Here’s your proof that people have been complaining about flight. There are plenty more, not counting any that may have been removed.
And for every person who complained about flying there are a multitude more who are pro flying. And I’d bet every single player who posted that they don’t want flying use it. Hypocrisy at its worst.
First one is legit, and probably the only one you could find. The rest were made after blizzcon 2013 after the no flight for wod announcement, and the bandwagon jumpers came out from under the woodwork… Still one thread from back in 2011 is far from there were threads all the time about removing flight lol.
Hey look, the goalposts moved!
You said I couldn’t find any, I found multiple. Plenty more exist and the old wrath boards had their far share.
You found one legit one from back in 2011. Most of that was probably, because the old schoolers didn’t like flight being added to eastern kingdoms, and kalimdor.
Again that’s just hearsay. Gave you credit for the 2011 one though. So turn your frown upside down lol. And wow that 2011 thread op had a awesome 5 likes lol.
all those links only proves my previous post the anti flight crowd rarely or never spoke up until AFTER Blizzard said something then suddenly they all climb onto their soapboxes claiming they’ve been campaigning for its removal all along
for a group of players claiming to be so adamantly opposed to all flight I wonder how many of them own went thru the effort and time to fam ingame as well as to purchase shop sold flying mounts?
they maintain the position that they want nothing to do with flying yet they bought farmed and otherwise obtained flying mounts which is a direct contradiction to the very thing you all claim to support
You claim the others aren’t legit, prove it.
I remember the complaints about flight during bc and wrath. They were just as loud as you pro flyers are now. You can use as many fallacies as you like, that won’t change the facts.
The forums from before 2011 no longer exist. Except for on the way back machine.
Cool story. Pepperidge Farms remembers to lol.
Legit after the fact. You found threads made after the blizzcon no flight announcement. And one from back in 2011. So I guess that supports your claim that there were threads all the time made about flight, because of one 2011 one you found lol. Also the op of that 2011 thread had 5 likes lol. Yes it must have been the most popular topic of the day lol.
well name one other time the subs dropped so drastically that Blizzard reverted a change like this prior to WoD? you cant because the only time this kind of negative feedback was so great it shook Blizzard up and got their attention was the Real ID announcement for forums
Guarantee you that the human warlock is scouring the interwebz trying to find a thread about flight from back in 2006, and 07, 08 lol.
in that case then go bio or grab a drink a snack etc while waiting im sure he will be gone for a bit
Pretty sure Hades will freeze over first lol.
And you can’t prove that flight had anything to do with that. The quarterly that reported those loses was from the three months prior to Ions interview. Those numbers had no context with them.
They should drop the rep requirements.
If they want pathfinder in just make it story based, so as long as you complete the zone story line, you unlock flight.
- I don’t hate flying
- I do like it being delayed until near the end of an expansion

- I like pathfinder
- Wouldn’t mind if they had some restricted flying areas in current content

I do believe that flying trivializes some content. Delaying it until near the end of the expansion seems fine to me. Lets latecomers catch up and makes it easier for alts.
I don’t know how many agree, disagree, would like some other tweaks, etc. However, I’m willing to bet that opinions vary widely and there really isn’t a consensus.
Once a month there was a thread by gankers on pvp realms.
And what about pathfinder. Do you think that people should be forced to re-earn flight which is only available after the end of the expansion?
It is not possible for flight to “trivialize” content that is already trivial.
Slowing down existing players’ progression in order that someone who doesn’t join until the end of the expansion doesn’t feel left out is a bizarre reason to eliminate flight in current content.
In no way does it “make it easier for alts” if flight is delayed until the end. The opposite is true. People would level up their alts instead of unsubbing and waiting for the next snippet of info about release of flight.
Devs chose to create a whole new type of cyclical subscribers from people who would never have dreamed of unsubscribing, but now do so routinely.
I seriously doubt many players think it would be a good idea to force players to go through pathfinder even though flight is delayed until just before the end of the expansion.
Pathfinder is their way of keeping players from actually flying, while promoting the appearance there is a way to earn it, eventually, despite how long the applied time gates are and how long it takes to jump thru all the hoops.
Then after flying is earned, the expansion progresses into a new zone or zones purposefully designed for no flying.
