Mages shouldn’t be the premiere tank spec in PvP. They are by design supposed to be the squishiest spec that offers control, dmg and mobility. How is it okay they can spam 20k absorbs and just face tank anything? Where by time you finally get on a Fire mage you do only enough dmg to get through the barriers then he blinks away.
Triune is the most toxic Leggo in the game on one of the most toxic specs. It’s unhealthy just nerf it by 75% in PvP because Mages have everything already they don’t need to be unkillable. (unless you want to prune their control, mobility, dmg)
Thanks. Looking forward to the fixes!!!

Nerfing by 75% is a bit much. Considering how many people put in the time to farm the needed mats for that leggo especially.
I suspect this is why they didn’t nerf Rogue crit legendary and instead nerfed a plethora of other stuff like their kyrian cov ability along with core sub rogue abilities.
That said, Triune ward by itself is one thing. It’s Triune ward + Diverted energies conduit that’s a real problem. If you aren’t spamming purge (3 GCDs minimum) on a mage with barriers up, 20% damage they take while those barriers are up heals them. Like what? Did we learn nothing from the crapshoot that was BFA Destro locks?
Most classes don’t have purges though…
So giving 1 specific counter to them that not half the classes can actually do is kinda dumb.

Welcome to rock-paper-scissor MMO-RPG PVP. That’s just the nature of how things work and how a meta develops organically. That’s what we signed up for.
Using Purge as the argument is trash. 3 GCD’s to purge a 30 sec CD triple barrier?
Yeah man, let people spam that purge (whoever can that is) while the mage globals with a combustion go.

you’re always about nerfing ret heals to the ground when its their main form of survivability, lacking any real mitigation. But when it comes to a class with equal survivability thru mitigation “thats just the nature of the game” lmao

Rets have divine shield, the most powerful spell in the game, that lets them be completely invulnerable while maintaining full offensive capabilities. It’s an apples to oranges comparison.
Besides, can mages cast barriers on teamates… apples to oranges.
divine shield is far from the best lol. Its a one time use escape, survive or Zerg. on a 5m cd. with it being on the slowest class in game , if used to Zerg can easily be avoided. Most rets survivability comes down to self heals plain and simple. with low mitigation their health drops far faster than classes with strong mitigation without the need to sacrifice dmg for heals.
and tell me, what barrier can ret put on a teammate that a mage can’t blast thru? lol

It really isn’t. They should of known how toxic it was going to be and it just can’t exist in PvP. If people want to use it in PvE for challenging M+ go for it. However Mages having everything then being super tanks is the most toxic thing ever.
It has to be nerfed by 75% at least. It’s worse than Tanking trinkets in BFA because only Mages have access to it. This can’t be defended in any type of way. Just nerf it.

It is the best, no other spell lets you be completely invincible while still allowing you to maintain full offensive capabilities.
The comparison is that mages can’t put barriers on teammates but they can heal, sac, and BoP teammates. So this comparison between mage triune ward and ret heals is… apples to oranges.
You mean play a Mage comp and win because it has everything. That isn’t organic that is failed design.
So what is Mages weakness? Oh right none. That isn’t rock paper scissors that is God, paper, scissor and Mages are gods with Triune. Lets not do that. Mages can counter everything because they have everything now. This is the worst leggo in the game right now.

Heaven forbid mages actually have an expansion where they aren’t the best kill target and trained the entire expansion in every arena game lol.
Mages, Priests, and Shamans all have purge abilities. Damage is so high I really don’t feel like these barriers are that out of line. The mage also sacrifices dps legendaries in order to pick this up.

Agreed.
But also Boomy seems to be the “Destro lock” passive tank BFA version 2.0 spec as of right now. Only another bursty casters have a chance to kill Boomy quick.

compairing survival ability to survival ability. health mitigation, is very much apples to apples. mage already has the safety ranged attacks offer with cc and kiting. also ice block alter time etc. that is how ranged survive. just like my hunter. very squishy. with 1 heal and 1 immunity on long cd. its sustain comes in the form of ranging opponents and using cc, slows etc. then to have crazy face tanking on top of that. is too much. melee has mitigation or heals because they do not have the luxury of attacking from safe distance and must close gaps to fight. mages have the best of both worlds.

Lmao they have so many more things to nerf before Triune Ward.

Even still, the only purge that actually deals with it effectively is klepto spell steal. Most classes with purge will completely dunk their mana on 3 dispell globals or the purge is on a CD. Spriest probably suffers the least since we at least gain insanity from doing it.
Idk, seems a bit much to me, especially since it protects combust with trash buffs
So we want to eliminate comp diversity because of Mages? How is that good!
Dude this is infinitely worse than BFA tank trinkets. It’s a 20k absorb that is almost a full HP absorb that you can just keep refreshing basically making it impossible to get a kill. On a class that has amazing mobility and control. You burst through it and they get away. Then they have block!! Come on dude. Be serious.
They “were” a good kill target for many reason and it’s their control and dmg. How does making Mage the tankiest spec good or healthy? It’s gross just stop.

Just to bring up a point here. How many classes in the game are you able to dispel their major offensive cooldown at all?
