If you enter the realm you will see the the characters at least.
In another thread the blue said this is being looked into seems to be effecting everyone on retail.

Had no issues yesterday but i just tried logging in a few minutes ago, and having the same issue. Stuck at %90 loading then disconnected.
EDIT: im in on the 4th try
