So per a blue post this was supposed to go live today. Is this happening? Devs back from vacation and feel like actually working on this version of the game? Or are we all still working on the China client and housing?

lol blizzard do anything they actually say they are gonna do dont hold ur breath theres a reason everyone is quitting this trash game because since activision took it over the customer service and support have been trash but i guess thats what happens when DEI hire a bunch of morons to run a game

Last blue post MoP has gotten was Dec 17th about the T14 nerfs. Safe to say we’re the ugly red headed step child, I’d expect an “oops forgot to do any work on this client” update around 3pm tomorrow

If I had to guess, it may not “turn on” until later today, similar to when raids open up
Just speculating on other trends though, I’ve got no actual idea
It’s wild to me how many bugs there are in ToT that they just… aren’t going to fix. This is one of the most anticipated raids, one people talk about as being the best raid ever, and they couldn’t be bothered to release even close to a working version.
It is really disappointing to see such a lack of care, and yet still it’s better than 90% of MMO dev support.

JP upgrades working now. They weren’t an hour ago before I went out for some pizza.

The JP upgrades “work” but all they did was change the Valor to JP for “thunderforge” upgrades. Which means we don’t have the normal +8 upgrades back. I feel like many people were expecting to have the old item level upgrades back that worked with upgrading thunderforged items.
No? Making non-thunderforged items able to be upgraded to thunderforged ilvl, removing the random feeling from drops/gear, was most of the point.
this was always the intention, they made a post telling us this like 2 months ago

As per their bullet point:
”These upgrades will only be available for the first 4 weeks of Throne of Thunder.”
”Beginning with the 5th week, (currently scheduled to be January 6th, 2026), these will swap over to the current 5.5.1 cost for epic item upgrades (1000 Justice Points each (2000 total)).”
The last bullet point seems somewhat misdirecting, but the one above is pretty clear.
the final line is telling you the cost of the upgrades, it’s not telling you that you can upgrade thunderforged items

I may be thinking of a 5.3 thing then. I have distinct memories of 549 Heroic Thunderforged items existing, even the waybackmachine shows 2/2 upgrades on heroic Thunderforged items back in 2013. I sort of assumed we’d be getting those upgrades today with their terminology. xD
yeah, this version of upgrades is to avoid thunderforging rng, i don’t know if we’ll get the +8 from the 5.3 patch, i assume we will

Probably another month or so. Kind of deflated at my own assumptions, but now I’m kinda wondering why anyone cared about today’s “change”. There’s not much to buy with VP atm anyways, so I had both currencies capped.
Yeah todays change doesn’t seem important. I didn’t realise it was today and got on early (before they changed it to JP) and grinded+spent valor upgrading the gear I got last week and then when I realised they changed it to JP, I went to look what I was missing out on by losing 1250 valor and came to the conclusion I wasn’t missing anything at all basically
which also matches ToT originally, not returning til SoO prepatch so it should return at some point
Raid tiers don’t get prepatches, only expansions do.
hmm except SoO kinda does, the escalation patch sets up leaders of the Horde to join against Garrosh so when SoO launches it narratively makes sense.
