can we just have xp buff like…now?
it was meant as a joke.
you never know these days, people have odd thoughts about what happens on pservers.
You’d think they never did anything wrong ever
I have difficulty sending messages while casting spells. If I get a response while I’m in combat there’s a good chance I won’t have responded as fast as someone who is just AFK in Shattrath. After a while you learn that multi-tasking in this fashion doesn’t pay off.
Not to mention the fact that oftentimes LFG chat is scrolling by so fast unless you’re sitting AFK in some city you’re never going to be able to see ads for dungeons you’re looking for anyway.
Instead of just coming out and saying “I don’t want a group finder” this person instead has to try and lend more credit to their argument by saying, “Well I do X why can’t you?” despite the fact that they’re still wrong.
A similar XP buff would be nice for retail.
Cost benefit.
Really? If you type /m
, it will bring up the macro interface. If you create a macro for it, you can actually send a message with the press of a single button. Something like /4 Druid Healer LFG MGT Heroic, PST!
You can periodically press that button even while you’re in combat and you don’t need to type anything at all!
Alternatively, if you don’t have any more macro slots available or if you just don’t want to have to edit a macro, if you’re using a chat addons like Pratt, by default when you press ENTER
, you can hit up on the arrow keys and it will load the last message you sent to chat. So you can send the same message to LFG chat over and over by pressing ENTER
, UP
, ENTER
.
If you’re looking for a group, it’s highly recommended that you actually glance at chat every now and again and actually listen for the in-game sound cue when you get a response. It’s been my experience that in the vast majority of situations, taking your attention away from combat for a few moments while questing isn’t going to end in death.
I’ve been playing WoW for well over a decade now, and I have never had a situation where I was simply questing out in the world and I was incapable of sending LFG/LFM messages to chat because of it. Maybe the only exceptions are when there’s PvP happening, when I pull a lot of enemies, or when I’m doing a quest that requires me to fight elites, but those are all exceptions to the general flow of questing.
Perhaps I’ll make a tutorial for people who struggle to use chat channels while they play. I certainly feel very sad that so many people feel like they have to choose between looking for groups or playing the game. I assure you, it’s possible to do both!
imagine the head dev of your game saying that the biggest influence on his decision making was a level 20 not knowing who the tank is
When literally almost everyone playing this game uses Elvui or another suite of addons that instantly tells them everyones roles.
The dude quite literally has never played this game. You can’t even watch a youtube video without seeing elvui.
Lol using macros in a chat channel is a 1998 solution in 2022
You can also handwrite all your paperwork and fax your papers over to your coworkers, or you could use a computer because it isnt 1968 anymore
How do you alert groups that you’d like to join their ranks for the dungeon? Telepathy?
Maybe I’ve been doing it wrong all along…
I mean, I don’t use Elvui because I feel like it adds a lot of pointless clutter to my screen, and I haven’t found a layout I like that doesn’t feel like a lot of extra clutter on my screen. I seem to do just fine without it, although now I’m sure you’re going to call me dumb for not using it like everyone else apparently does. Even so, its not like figuring out who the tank is, is something difficult. Generally speaking the tank is probably going to be whoever has the most health.
oh damn if you can’t even figure out how to use the LFG tool no wonder you don’t want it
Honestly wouldn’t surprise me if they did. The whole LFD situation reminds me a lot of WoD and flying.
At this point, we feel that outdoor gameplay in World of Warcraft is ultimately better without flying. We’re not going to be reintroducing the ability to fly in Draenor, and that’s kind of where we’re at going forward.
It took them 19 days to go from Ion saying the above to Polygon in an interview, to announcing the pathfinder achievement is coming in 6.2.x.
Why would retail need an xp buff? you can already level in like 10 hours.
yeah man its incredibly basic. Brian, the leader of classic, is nixing the LFG tool because, in his own words, in a wailing caverns group someone had to ask who the tank was and it sparked conversation. The guy is an actual !@#$ing idiot.
Uh… doesn’t the game also denote who the tank is next to someone’s portrait? I suppose I could be wrong, but I could have sworn the game did that automatically. Or does it not do so in Classic, and the reason it does so on Retail is because that’s a part of the group finder tool?
Don’t think it does that in classic.
Addons try to do it by looking at talents/what they’re casting, but it doesn’t always work.
Can you please announce dates these things will be occurring?
Really helps everyone to plan vacation time.
Ah. Like I said earlier, I’ve never been interested in Classic because I have a really small window to play in each night and don’t want to spend two hours or so just trying to get a single group together for a dungeon. Raiding is one thing. Doing it for a dungeon is another.
