I would not say likely early Aug for prepatch. They wouldn’t likely start that until the server consolidation is done and they said chars may not be available for up to 2 weeks. After that I would say makes more sense for it to drop.

Don’t really think they need to wait the 2 weeks if that actually happens with characters getting locked, they already announced it, people have plenty of time to get off the server.
Delaying prepatch for people who don’t pay attention wouldn’t be any good.

Yeah, most of the accounts/toons still remaining on those closing servers Aug9 are likely either not subbed at all or just not active, so the fact they aren’t immediately available is probably not going to have a significant impact.
Most of those servers appear to be effectively dead already.

What Blizzard plans and what really ends up happening haven’t ever been exactly identical.
I predict the XP buff and server consolidation happen on the same day, Aug 9, then roughly two weeks later pre-patch. When the few players who end up with their “main” stuck in limbo create threads here to complain about how much of the XP buff they’re missing out on, the forum regulars will offer their sincerest sympathy in the usual fashion.
Can we get this buff now dudes? What are you waiting for?

Each day that goes by should add 10% to the initial %, retroactive to the date they announced this.
