But has there been an improvements to “traditional guild and social structures”, as was the intent of the ban?
Huge win. I’m all for this and I think the game is healthier for it, but hopefully they get closer to a solution to fix where players are mistakenly banned gets solved, because having fellow SoD enjoyers who do not break ToS but get hit by the hammer does suck.
It’s not impossible for a false positive, but let’s be real people were bragging about doing GDKPs anyway.
I remember it well when the ban was first announced. People were saying how they’re smarter than Blizz, will still find ways to do it. And now getting banned and complaining about it.
I think you missed the point of what he was saying. GDKPs were a great screen to stop them from knowing who was really buying and selling.
I’m so broke in SoD, never done a GDKP in my life but feel like everyone else has hundreds of G while I’ve got 50 silver haha.
Yeah me too man, it’s a slog out here. I’m out here fishin’ for scraps.
World of swiping.
The anti gdkp people just see what they want and they only point on what goes along with their narrative.
Bunch of sheep.
Of course. The good they brought outweighed the bad though. /4 is almost literally unusable in Phase 2 as roles that were in demand and the demand filled by preferred cut no longer have that demand filled. It’s all just solo warriors, solo rogues, and LF2Healers raids.
Aggrend himself says they made the change to make their job easier, not because it is what is best for the game.
I see people paying gold bounties for healers as well as HR’ing grime boxes to healers. It’s just taking a while to ramp up. I see these types of groups more and more.
There has not.
Really? Because I am pretty sure I have seen an endless river of tears on every form of social media recently about being banned from WoW for gold buying or selling which would indicate that they are, in fact, cracking down on gold buying and selling.
Considering the pervasiveness of bots and the arms race of dealing with them (not only in wow but in pretty much any online game where botting is a possibility), I think a reduction in demand is a crucial part of defeating them.
Bless their greedy little hearts; they will be so much more visible now with far less gold changing hands in player to player trades. All the better to ban them with.
I love that they’ve openly said this, as every realistic Anti-RMT argument acknowledged the laundering only to be met with the uhm whell achutkachually" response from the “we totally don’t buy gold” of the community insisting GDKP was “100% honest and fair”.
I hope this actually permeates to the entirety of WoW. Having to report 50+ M+ boost services just to find groups in retail was a massive chore that ended up being one of my reasons to put retail on hold.
It is true and the game developers have said as much.
“I will say this is totally anecdotal and this isn’t backed by any of our data as of yet”
seems like u might have missed a bit of the quote u were quoting
kind of an important part of the context i would have thought
At the end of the day it is Aggrend’s ship to sink.
Things we can see with our own eyes:
(1) bots are more rampant than ever. Go to tanaris, horde hunter bots with chinese pet names EVERYWHERE. Like every 5 feet. Stockades has a conga line of mage bots.
(2) Population is down. People are quitting and not coming back. People are rolling less alts because there is less incentive.
Things we can only guess at:
(3) People are buying more gold? Almost certainly, with how many gold sinks there are this phase. Quests give hardly any more money, but instead of mounts costing 10g, it’s costing 100g. Gnomer items cost anywhere from 100-200g. Raid consumes are more expensive. So it’s a very safe bet that there is more gold being bought
You might want to reread. Aggrend didn’t say that.
Oh so he has some data that the lead software engineer for the game doesn’t? alright
“GDKP is an excellent way to launder money and an excellent way to obfuscate the movement of illicit gold"
I’ve keep hearing this argument, and maybe I’m missing something. How would a gold seller/buyer use a GDKP to “obsfucate” anything? Does Aggrend really think a gold seller is finding 9 buyers who want exactly the same amount of gold and then having them go into a raid, complete a raid, and then hand out an even split? Like what scenario is aggrend and redditors imaginging here?
Or is it just “gold buyer” is spending bought gold into a GDKP. In which case… can’t they just ban the gold buyer when he… I dunno… bought the gold in the first place? The GDKP portion of this equation seems irrelevant.
I’m having a hard time coming up with a legimate scenario in which GDKP does anything that aggrend is claiming.
Not sure what you mean. The OP quoted Aggrend. You quoted someone else and tried to attribute it to Aggrend.
