I can assure you that this is a very false statement. The majority of those who used to GDKP would do so on alts. ANd as their alts got geared they would level more because they loved to play. I can say that for myself as well. But I will stop at this third one instead of the 6 25s I had so that I could play with more people. I would have stopped at two but one of my guilds needed more priests. But that’s beside the point.
Most players in all the communities that I have been apart of in Wrath, before Wrath (led a GDKP group for 3 years), and in p1 SOD that did GDKP do so because they actually love to play the game and raid. And would rather spend their time in a raid and being social. So they kept leveling more characters. Especially in an environment like SOD where things are so new and different. Gold was just a byproduct that either enabled them to raid on their main without having to spend as much time farming or allowed them to gear up all those alts more efficiently and with more control. And in SOD with the fact that you could group with friends and quest to get gold there really wasn’t a need to buy any gold. But now those friends aren’t questing now that they have their 1 lvl 40. Some might have started a second. But they are losing steam fast because they don’t want to deal with the headache of gearing it.
In a few more weeks it will be more noticeable as the attrition starts.
And yes I know that it isn’t the norm to have almost a 3rd lvl 40. But I had friends that wanted to make sure we could get everyone’s mains in the first full week of lockouts and to do that we had to do another dungeon grind leveling spree to help out everyone. At this point though most players have at least 1 40 though. My 3rd character I have mostly quested and barely played for over a week.
Exactly lol, like these people who RMT know exactly what their doing and know exactly that’s its bannable…then as soon as their caught they jump into this completely wild story of “Yoooo someone like randomly traded me 550 gold and I like accepted it…but didn’t know why they did it, so I just kept it. I had no idea it was dirty gold etc etc pls blizzGods unban me”…the amount of stories like that which I see on the Customer Support forums and Reddit are hilarious.
Oh you can assure me? How? Like…how are you going to assure me that my statement is wrong? LOL Homie I can’t even assure my OWN statement. This is just my perspective.
That’s all well and good homie, but this won’t change my mind on GDKPs just being raid loggers with a lot of alts to grind millions of gold from whales. Like I said, it’s perspective.
I don’t think that’s the case homie. A lot of players are still in the 30s or mid 30s right now. Like I said I work from home and hit 40 last week. A lot of people don’t have that kind of time to play WoW.
Sketchy stuff man, sketchy sketchy stuff that’s why lol. At this point I really only see streamers with multiple accounts so they can level their own alts etc. But I feel like most people who have more than one account are A) Multi-boxing (which is not allowed using external plugins to run the multi-box) or B) They are RMTers.
If I’m Blizzard and I see people sending thousands of gold from one account to another…that’s suspicious to me. Characters on the same account, who cares? I’m sure that doesn’t raise any red flags.
But we all know about burner accounts. And so does Blizz.
For sure, they def have ways to determine this. I’d actually bet they have automated scripts to figure that out. But yea if Blizz sees one account sending 1000s of gold on SoD to a completely separate account…that stuff is 10000000% auto-flagged and then probably banned shortly after.
No one denied gold sellers/buyers did GDKPs, but just because they exploit it doesn’t mean people who don’t break the rules should have their freedom to play how they enjoy limited. Simply hiring a couple dozen GM to be active in servers would reduce bots ten times more effectively than criminalizing GDKPs and we shouldn’t applaud or support Blizzard watering down the game because they prefer the cheaper alternative.
They could of banned gold buyers easily, this whole “oh man banning GDKP makes identifying gold buyers easier” literally doesn’t make any logical sense
It makes perfect sense. People were using GDKPs as a way to transfer illegal gold between characters. Now that’s banned, so they’re trying to do it in other ways. Which apparently is easier for Blizz to track. Hence the bans.
My guild was a GDKP guild for P1 in SOD. Plus, I know of several other groups that were GDKP in p1. Plus my experience in Classic and all the communities I was apart of back then. Odd how someone within the community would know a lot about said community. So I can assure you.
And I think more people than you believe are 40 at this point. Maybe they haven’t yet raided or will be raiding soon. But we are at over two weeks and on our third weekend of the content. Even just questing alone would have helped you attain 40 by now with just a couple hours a day. I spend a lot of my time in front of the AH and still leveled.
