Jailer's Gauntlet - How are people finishing layer 8?

I’ve been trying to complete Layer 5 of Jailer’s Gauntlet, and it’s rough getting groups.

  1. With every group, there’s about 1.5 signups who haven’t done Layer 4
  2. The DPS is low
  3. Interrupts are MIA
  4. Everyone’s on a time constraint
  5. Two wipes and it’s over
  6. There are almost never 5 people around who have the time to do it, the prerequisites and the patience

And yet I see people with the Tower Ranger title. What am I missing? Is this one of those “Go Horde, there are plenty of people” things?

Honestly, and I’m not even trolling here, I’ve switched whatever Ally toons I had left to Horde for this very reason, and I haven’t had issues since.

EDIT: Not that I’m saying this is okay or appropriate

Maybe I’ll push my Lock to a 250 ilvl. Thanks.

Sad

Wait a second…

Something’s not quite right.

I’m actually an idiot. Did they add 4 layers of Jailer’s Gauntlet? When did this happen? Has this always been a thing?

EDIT: Nevermind, DISREGARD MY POST.

No, they for god knows what reason hide Layers 5-8 until you complete 4

Did you mean your lock beat Layer 4, Locutus?

That’s not annoying at all. :expressionless:

My warlock with Domination Gear with Triple Tyrant is actually struggling with Layer 5.

What the heck is this.

Yes.

It’s highly contingent on Interrupts because there’s a lot of one-shot mechanics. I asked someone who completed 8 and they were saying they did it on Comms to coordinate Interrupts which is just not great.

I see the purpose of this post.

Because OH MY GOD, Layer 5 is actually stupid. You can’t do it by yourself.

Fear has DR and two MOBS THAT CAST FEAR when my Demonology Warlock can kick every 30 second is a bit much.

Group work is definitely advised. A coordinated one too. Probably best run with friends.

I Just kept re-entering the instance till I got condemn at any heath and condem knockdown as my first 2 options , then I went all defensive +rage gen including having shield wall up for 5 mins

The rare boss layer is the biggest booster you can get to everything.

I’ve seen others say this, but this feels like a flawed design. If the whole thing is dependent on RNG, why not let us choose one power on walking in. And let the other two be RNG.

Torghast is not designed for every spec friendly and it’s annoying.

There’s so many bosses and mobs that require an interrupt, but if you play a moonkin, that’s a minute cooldown. If you play a healer, you don’t have one at all unless you’re a shaman. Etc.

This is how I beat Layer 4 at ilvl230ish, lmao.

I just re-entered until I got the “Aspect of the Turtle Duration Increased and can cast while it’s up” and “Feign Death Resets the cooldown of your aspects.”

Infinite Aspect of the Turtle. You might take damage every now and then from AoE attacks, (and somehow some attacks go through the turtle randomly) but in general, you’re invincible lol.

Exactly! 3% versatility sounds nice but you need at least 20 of those to come close to some other abilities and who the hell thought of reducing shield slam cd powerup was a good idea ??

I do not mind the randomness but there should be somewhat equal value if it going to drop randomly. The vendor before each boss even says the same thing . I would rather have them increase the phantasm drops and give us a selection of powers ups to buy during the start of each stage.

Grain of salt since I solo my towers.

But the first 3 anima powers can brick your run if they are just utter trash.

lmao.

just take 4 resto shaman and a tank and gg wp, maybe 5 resto works better…

Only reason I made this ally toon is because of cross faction in the future. So I’m hoping this stops being an issue as I prefer alliance.

Ya know it’s been years, but when I tried alliance out for a while, I noticed they were really bad at simple things, let alone raiding and things that required effort. There was a lot of wiping when we shouldn’t have. I went back to horde after a month or so because it became an annoyance.

I soloed it on lock with full s2 duelist gear

I spent the first half taking ever single defensive power. After I was pretty much immortal, I started taking the offensive stuff. I’ve carried some friends with this strat.

Solo’d what? Layer 5 or Layer 8?

I cleared 8 gauntlet solo at 240 ilvl the 1st week it was out. It’s so easy. I got tower ranger the day it was first possible. Just gotta get the right powers and be bbussing.

I took under 10 seconds per full floor at layer 8 level btw. Very ez

Is this like the rest of TG where as a tank, I’m better off soloing it?
