Ivus loot bug reverted yet?

Honest question here:

Last night I killed Ivus and I didn’t get to use a bonus roll - at all. This despite my having relevant seals to do so.

So, if I go back and kill him again:

  1. Will I be able to use a bonus roll for another chance at loot?
  2. If so, will I be flagged for some kind of exploitation?

You’re right, you were exploiting a bug.

Perhaps you’ll think twice next time.

I had the same issue – my main had no option to bonus roll on first kill (nobody in the entire raid group was able to bonus roll based on all the complaints in the chat) and my boyfriend (in the same raid group) also wasn’t able to bonus roll.

Did it on alt, was able to bonus roll no problem.

Was able to go back on the main and do it again – bonus roll worked that time for me. Boyfriend went back and he was able to bonus roll as well. (Note: just bonus roll, unlike what the horde were apparently able to do)

Chat both in Darkshore and in Trade has been full of complaints about the bonus roll loot bug.

Imagine thinking you could farm a world boss with out a roll back. Use your head.

If you go back and kill him again, you should get the bonus roll to pop up (I experienced this as well).

You should not be flagged for any exploitation as you were able to kill world bosses before without using your roll and go back and kill them again with a roll. I’ve also had to kill world bosses multiple times before because I didn’t get credit for killing them (due to only healing the raid and not dpsing the boss).

You won’t get regular loot from killing him after the first time, only a bonus roll if you have seals.

I assume the horde exploited a bug that allowed them to keep getting regular loot off of him each time they killed him, and the boss is no longer doing that, so you can’t accidentally exploit the bug now.

You would have to be fairly silly (or very new to the game) not to realise that the boss was bugged and behaving incorrectly. If you did it once to confirm that yes, this is weird, and then reported it as a bug, I don’t imagine you’d be thumped for that.

But anyone who hears on the grapvevine that a boss is bugged and doing a pinata imitation, and then goes and repeatedly acts on that bug for reward, is doing so knowing its wrong.

As for it being their mistake - obviously it’s a mistake or it wouldn’t be happening. If someone walking ahead of you has a hole in their pocket and $20 drops out and you pick it up and keep it, that’s theft. The money isn’t yours - it was their ‘bugged’ pocket that had it happen, but still isn’t your money.

Exploits have been against the rules for as long as I can remember.

Ignorantia juris non excusa Ignorance of the law excuses no one, the old saying goes. Likewise stupidity doesn’t get you off either. Play sensible and fair, and you will have no problems.

This is all a clever ploy to even out the war mode population discrepancy.

What you just described is both literally and legally theft. Sure you wanna go with that example?

So I’d like to know I according to the wonderfully salty people here if I should be banned since I technically ‘exploited’ this boss. Here is how it went down to the best of recollection.

Day 1, rolled out with my DH, did the intro questline, headed off, killed some rares, killed the WB, got the helm and coined the trinket. Smiled, finished off the rares, got some pets, some nice tmog.

Switch over to my mage, did the intro quest again (really Blizz? Broken Shore again?), kill some rares, kill the WB, get cold + ap, shrug, finish off the rares and WQs.

Switch to my rogue, do the intro questline yet again (sigh), kill some rares, kill WB… Hmmm can’t coin despite having five of them. Hmm annoying. Oh well shrug, move on, kill some more rares, get called away from an M+ with half the rares left to go.

Day 2! Log onto rogue to finish the rares, get bear mount, happy dance, fly by WB, do a double take as he still has the ‘silver dragon’ picture instead of gold. Figure maybe Blizzard have reset him for people who couldn’t coin, remembered something similar happening in Legion with the greater invasion points on Argus. Join a group kill him, again no coin, try again, no coin, shrug and give up.

Oh and I also joined in on a kill with a guild mate I was helping kill rares. Does that mean I was attempting an exploit?

So do I deserve a ban?

If I paid more attention to it and saw the rare portrait again the following day, I’d assume it was designed that way.

After all, they really suck at communicating changes. Maybe they threw us a bone and gave us this dude as a daily chance at gear.

In fact, I may have killed it twice on my DK during the time it was up, just to use both my bonus rolls. Hopefully I won’t see any loss of time, even though I didn’t get extra gear.

But I assume this wasn’t our situation. Like people who exploited it likely knew they were exploiting it.

Do something once, you can be forgiven. Mistakes happen. I mean, I’ve done things that were bugged and benefited. I filed a report and was never punished. Because I was prompt about it and didn’t take advantage of it.

Do something multiple times however, especially when you know how its supposed to work, and there is no excuse. That’s when it moves from accident into full on exploit.

World Bosses have always been built as a “two rolls max, one free per week, one with a bonus roll” system.

If you got loot more than twice, its a DEFINITE bug.

Considering 385s reward 35 residuum that’s a bit substantial if you are mass farming a boss in a way that is clearly not intended.

Let’s repeat this again for the slow people:

Nobody. Is. Stealing. From. Blizzard.

They’re giving themselves an unintended, unfair advantage over the people who didn’t take advantage of the bug. In short, they are cheating. To claim that cheaters should be given a pass just because most of BFA’s system releases have been a trashfire really calls your own level of integrity into question.

I’m sorry but that doesn’t fly.

Almost every 120 knows by now that world bosses only drop one piece of loot and you get one bonus roll.

Everything in this expansion is broken and buggy. Who is to know anymore?

Use this excuse with a GM and copy and paste their reply for us please.

I had to kill this boss 7 times before the WQ even marked as complete. lmao.

Actually, that’s not entirely true. 3 times he phased out and disappeared on the whole raid before he died.

looks like someone is getting ready to exploit it…
