We had a completely missed opportunity in the Mechagon/Nazjatar patch of BfA to introduce the long anticipated Tinker class. We saw what they could potentially be with the NPCs that were in the island expeditions. Then we lost the plot and everything went quiet for years until the big Evoker mistake hit the playerbase like a slap in da face! SMH
Now is the time. Another perfect opportunity has arisen with the Undermine patch. Goblins, steam punk, mechanical theme etc. It’s time. Give the players what they want: Tinkers!
The first mail wearing class in the game to have a ranged DPS and tank spec.
They said nothing about a new class during the announcement, or put any signs or hints of one on the roadmap, and it’s even less likely that they’d shadowdrop a new class in an x.x.5 patch, since that’s a big step up from a new spec for an existing class (Augmentation).
Vulpera are not a technologically-advanced race on the level of gnomes and goblins, no matter how many posts are made suggesting that they be lumped in with those two in the event that tinkers are heavily restricted.
Okay, now this one is just baffling. When it comes to machines, trolls haven’t been shown to be remotely in the same ballpark as goblins. Really, these threads prove just how lopsided tinker race distribution would be if you don’t just give the class to everyone.
Let’s continue to arbitrarily limit a theoretical tinker class to 4-6 races while ignoring the ones that have shown to be capable of building flying mechs (Lightforged and earthen), siege vehicles (humans, orcs, and undead), subterranean vehicles (Dark Irons), spaceships (draenei and Lightforged), aircraft carriers (Mag’har), arcane constructs (blood elves, void elves, and nightborne), or anything made with engineering (the rest of them). I’m sure that would go over well with the people who still push for no race/class restrictions at all.
I never said they did… My title was what I want to happen. I amended it to be less confusing.
I was just trying to give them races that might fit with the class thematically. Blizz never allows a new class to be all races. I was just trying to give it to more classes than what blizz might otherwise restrict it to.
See my previous response. Not sure which other horde races would be a good fit thematically. But you’re probably right. Trolls are a bit of a stretch.
Every race had DKs before pandaren came along, and they gave monks to everyone except worgen and goblins, for some stupid reason. It was only with DH and evoker that they started limiting race options for new classes so heavily.
I hope so… I wasn’t a big tinker idea enjoyer at first, but over time it’s become a fantastic idea to me, a good gnome or goblin special class where they get bonuses would be cool… definitely would take that over the waste imo that is player housing.
What’s a race got to do to be recognized as brilliant engineers? Because clearly building a space ship that invaded the Legion homeworld isn’t enough. Is there like a quota of how often things need to blow up in your face to qualify?
I’ma be honest, I forgot about the Draenei. The issue is that alliance has quite a few races that thematically make sense as an engineering type class like Tinker. Horde doesn’t have anywhere near as many.
I don’t think so. Player housing is probably one of the most consistently requested features in the history of WoW
As long as they don’t touch my wildfire bombs or my nitro boosts, I guess I’m on board.
Oh, and let something other than short races play them. I don’t need a visual reminder of my own height constantly staring me in the face on a new class.
Would be excited to see if they go the mech pilot route or an exosuit/skeleton route, though. Explosives are a given, and zappy gadgets are as well.
Kinda excited, tbh. Used to be on team absolutely not, but I’ve changed my mind since.
