It's time. Tinker class should arrive in 11.1

Careful by saying that. You’ll upset the people who think game design starts at a name and then you adhoc solutions until you have something one can pretend didn’t start at a name.

I wonder how many people would like tinkers to be designed the same way that The Jailor likely was designed.

lol. The 7 people that get upset at tinker never being a class will live.

Honestly a Tinker class is more likely in 11.1.5. Just like the 3rd Evoker spec was announced with 10.1.5.

That may be. But counterpoint: Tinkers!

In all seriousness though, everybody knows that the most requested feature is high elves.

I doubt it will be next patch, but maybe next xpac. Hard to say.

The timing is right though, and they need another eye grabber for the midnight reveal. If the big thing is player housing, why would they reveal it now and have nothing to build hype for in the summer?

Id love a science based healing class. No magic or mana, just potions and medicines that we yeet/shoot at people. Kinda like swtor medic troopers.

Grenader dps spec, mecha tank spec, or so many options really. It would be cool.

Want to play a mage? Just become an enchanter instead!

Look at the archetype in any of the following:
Guild Wars 2 - Engineer
FF14 - Artillery
Maplestory - Mechanic
Warhammer Online - Dwarf Engineer
Heroes of the Storm - Gazlowe
Overwatch - Torbjorn

Makes absolutely zero sense to equate a profession that makes goggles, guns, profession equipment, and bismuth bolts to a class archetype that exists in WoW already and many MMOs that revolves around creating drones/minis, deploying a variety of turrets, booby trapping the battlefield, throwing bombs, mines, and firing lazers, and even fighting in an exo suit or even mech.

Eh? Did you mean Machinist?

On that note.

The class name might benefit from being called something that isn’t a literal head/wrist slot and a type of non-combat role (as displayed in the Mechagon intro quests).

hmm… Tinker themed player housing?

The issue is that profession is a stand in for what those classes you linked do. Turrets, make no sense for this universe. Throwing bombs, mines, and traps is already a thing. Hunter. They can do that. If you want a mech suit, maybe go for a sci-fi game. Everything an “tinker” would be able to do and make sense for the Warcraft universe, already exists. Hunter engineer is your precious tinker. Use the right gun, they even shoot laser beams.

I think it is premature to add another class, but it would be right thematically.

Probably best to introduce during Last Titan considering Mimiron. :8ball::robot:

Unless I missed something, I think player housing is the hook for Midnight while allied races are for War Within so Last Titan needs a Titan themed class and Mimiron fits. :memo::robot:

I’m a fan of Artificer. Probably a bit of draenei and D&D bias though.

Professions aren’t stand ins for classes.

WoW has multiple races that use a high level of technology. WoW has multiple locations filled with technology. It stands to reason that WoW has a technology-based class. And no, throwing a bomb made of animal sweat isn’t technology, piloting a mech is. We have two faction leaders who pilot mechs in combat, and we’re currently in an expansion where multiple races use mechs on a daily basis (Earthen and Goblins). Saying mech piloting belongs in a different game is an absolutely silly argument.

Contrary to the title, the time has come and gone imo. I wouldn’t hold my breath for this class.

I won’t deny it It’s been a good 2 years since I played FF14 and Lost Ark and confuse their class/job names often lolI won’t deny it It’s been a good 2 years since I played FF14 and Lost Ark and confuse their class/job names often

But yes that’s what I meant lol ty for the correction

Assuming they avoid Engineer for obvious reasons, and Tinker (though I think that name is fine), there’s still; Mechanic, Machinist, Inventor, Scrapper, Demolitionist, Artificier, Sparksmith, Machinespeaker, Mekgineer, among others.

The last few suggestions lean pretty heavily into Tinker culture for specific races, but the first 4-5 are very broad and agnostic to how each race would approach Tinkering different lore-wise (like how Tauren Paladins are Sunwalkers, Zandalari are Prelates, Blood Elves are Blood Knights, etc but all just use the blanket term “Paladin” for gameplay purposes)

I mean, there were tinkers in WC3, which wow is based on. Its a nuetral hero class. I 100% would play a tinker. I hope its support spec though.

“Am I a joke to you?” - Draenei artificer looking at their turrets and robots sadly.

I want tinkers too bro!
