It's time. The Bard Class

Yeah that too. I don’t know how good it was to have a class that had the end game power fantasy of “you get to mess with people”.

I’m going to charm your rare quest mob then run mach 5 across the densely populated minefield of a zone and use it tank guards till it dies.

I think it would be a cool class… confused about why “bard” would be a plate wearer though. Seems to suggest leather all the way

ROFL that mental image gave me EQ nostalgia.

If anything, bard being a hunter spec would make more sense. Warrior poets already exist in the game lore and a lot of them are some form of hunter; for example, Lor’themar is a survival hunter.

no, just get rid of hunters… whether they turn them into bards or evokers is fine.

Only if they make them work like you are playing guitar hero.

Like the idea of a cast bar that has a sweet spot to hit or release the key for stronger effectiveness, like a riff off the evoker but it’s not just hold longer for bigger effect. Maybe some of that is fine. Probably needs to have hero.

I would have honestly just added it as a 4th rogue tree at this point. The class specializes in daggers/small weapons/and light ranged weapons. I’ve always imagined bards in leather anyway. Energy and combo points for the songs would be fine. Maybe the song does different things based on combo points (small aoe heal at 1 point, small aoe dot at 2 points, big ally heal at 3 points, etc.). Add some variance to the rotation. I dunno.

I can have hope that Blizz won’t just yeet my favourite class, but who knows?

I envision bard much differently than the stereotypical musician. Bards, to me, are more about influence and presence; they’re an inspiration to those around them. Whether they inspire through combat prowess, motivational speeches, or rousing ballads is moot, they’re whole purpose is to make sure their people feel empowered by what they’re doing and make their rivals feel hesitant or hopeless.

This is why I think Aura would be a very cool gameplay feature. I miss the days of Shaman totems like this also.

And so melee might be the passive damage of Bards, but switching between Offensive and Defensive Auras / Songs would be the main game play.

We just got a new race, let’s be happy with the new class we have and maybe in a few years we can get a new class.

We just got a new class give it a rest

I remember paladins used to have, and still have a few, auras they could use, but it goes away if changed.

The totem thing is great though. Four totems, four different utilities going at once. I used to check in with my old raid leader what pet buffs they wanted when some hunter pets still provided a groupwide buff.

I like utility. I like situational spells that change during fights. The idea of aura/song/pet based buffing appeals to me.

Don’t bards go around singing or telling stories? Am I supposed to talk monsters ears off until they kill themselves? or beat them with my instrument?

Bard is an amazing class in many other games. Make it happen people.

Though i don’t expect such “miracles” from the current company.

Zandalari Troll Warriors

No. Your song is supposed to make your raid smarter, stronger, faster and rebuild their mana/energy/rage quicker.

so never? that’s just boring heh

I once made a topic designing a Bard but in the end I deleted it because it’s just a Hunter with music. I.E There’s no point in anything. Everything has been done. All Themes used.

4th Hunter spec go go go.
