It's Our Fault

So… let me get this straight…

We’re upset because we have to spend five seconds to log into our main character, that we play all the time, because otherwise it wouldn’t be our main…?

Really?

This is what we’re unhappy about?

Michael always says: K.I.S.S., keep it simple, stupid. Great advice, hurts my feelings every time!

If I’m understanding right, if you don’t log into your main first (the one with all the essences or whatever) it somehow screws you over so you don’t get any of the currency or something. So the folks that didn’t log into their mains first aren’t being reimbursed for this really arbitrary rule that wasn’t explained to everyone beforehand.

I always log on to my main last when opening Tuesday chests. First my alts get their lesser rewards, then I get to see what my main gets!

I was lucky in that the alt I went on first happened to have a few rank 3s. But had I chosen another one, I would’ve screwed myself over. Simply for wanting to save the best for last.

Nah, the complaint is that we didn’t know we had to do that to even start collecting the currency and we opened up our weekly chests and lost 500 echoes because we weren’t aware that’s how it works. A notice would have been nice.

It’s the fact that nobody knew that this is what we had to do… There are a lot of people that only raid/log on their “main”. Most people were excited about the idea of getting rank 3 essences on their alts and finally making them playable, so they log in on said alts first to start acquiring Echoes only to be left without them.

What people are upset about is that Blizzard wasn’t forthcoming with this requirement.

So peeps logged their alts, eager to get started and opened their mythic caches right away.

Those alts didn’t recieve the currency.

Currency they earned.

Do you feel the same way about gear? If not, then you should probably reconsider your position.

Speaking of gear: When they made transmogs account-wide, you still had to log onto all the characters that had the various appearances that you wanted to have access to…because apparently the game doesn’t magically know what you’ve earned on what character until that data is made available to it. Shocking, I know.

I’ve been saying this all along. Too much fluff on top of fluff, that requires another type of fluff just to get up to speed. Too many varied currencies, too many items that you need to combine to get yet another item that can be used as a currency, and no, I’m not talking about professions.
And there’s no hope of saving it because they only know how to add when it comes to extending the carrot stick, and only know how to subtract when it comes to fun.

This whole mess of essences should have used War Resources as currency and been made available at rank 2 so players could get under their alts and roll without having to grind yet another unnecessary currency.

My guess is they didn’t QA this and found out this morning with the rest of us.

General consensus seems to be that essences aren’t enough like gear to be treated like gear. I haven’t seen anyone clamoring for that, just for the “Build your Naz rep for the 7th time and go farm up those spare parts” grinds to be handled differently.

Droll busy work in obsolete content shouldn’t be as encouraged as it is/was.

Weird set up… I’m sure their coding-developer guys could of come up with a better way instead of ''log in to your best character to scan before you go play on alts"

Weird, and this being 2020. But what do I know.

I mean people are at fault for running content ASAP when server go back up that they dont even bother to read how the new system works … Its not a bug or a lack on blizzards part here …

Hit em where it hurts.

Unsub. Im about to. Ita disgusting behaviour on there part.

Reward everyone 500 echoes to compensate and call it a day

No, we aren’t. The explanation of how the system worked in regards to having to log onto your main was not made known until 54 minutes after servers came up. That is the definition of too little too late when it comes to something so highly anticipated. This ones on Blizzard and that’s why I made this post. If we don’t get loud about it then they definitely won’t do anything about it.

First time playing wow?

I think people are upset because if you played an alt first, and did an activity that could have awarded the new currency you didn’t get it.
This was only communicated via twitter afaik.

Seems like a valid complaint that a new system in the game offered no warning in the game of how it works.

I guess the naïve of us trusted that blizzard would implement this is a way that wouldn’t cause such a scandal, that they would have anticipated such a problem would occur. Won’t be making that mistake again.

I’m honestly surprised as well. The last thing I read from them last last week where they talked about this update for alts, and that original thread did not mention needing to log into the main first.

Seems the thread was updated today, accompanied by the twitter post.

While that is good to see, something this particular would in my opinion clearly warrant Launcher notice and In-Game Pop-Up notice as well. As you indicated in your original post, they do this with the in-game store items and major patches all the time, for important messages of this magnitude would seem prudent.

Like yourself, the most current alt I was working on I raced to log in and get started to acquire some Rank 3’s just to loot my chest and THEN find out. I tried to re-loot it after logging in a ‘main’, and the chest was still un-lootable unfortunately.

But it is a massive lack on blizzards part.

Are you kidding me?

Why the F would i log into my main first when hes all geared up? I wanted to see the goodies my alt could get. I did a +14 and capped conquest at 1600+ only to receive nothing… log onto main and got 525 (dont need it at all)
