It's Our Fault

Yep, people instinctually log onto the toon they are most excited about, for me it was my main because my alt had the essences I wished to acquire on my main (my alt grinded rep).

Wait… What?

You have to log on to a toon that has an essence that another toon doesn’t have before the second toon can get the currency?

They really spaghetti coded this one in.

Yeah I’m guessing they ran into trouble or ran outta time getting it working otherwise.

They posted this on the launcher hours ago. People will complain about anything.

You have to log in a toon that has an essence so the game knows you have a toon that has that essence. How else will it know?

It is a fair question as to why they only give the currency to toons that can spend it - they could have just given it to all toons - but if they want to restrict it to only toons that can buy something with it, they have to first work out which toons have something to buy. Which means you need to log in all your toons so they can make that list.

The players posted a psa 16 min before blizzard posted their first tweet or any notifications. This is a Blizz [Removed] up not a player one. And many are quiting.

Blizz found out from PLAYERS not getting currency. You do realise a mega TONNE of players wait until reset to open their chests right? Especially with a new currency being rewarded.

Bottom line is, lots of players were screwed out of a bunch of currency and blizz is trying to cover it up and make it look like its our fault

This. It just goes to show how out of touch Blizzard is with their player base.

The next T&E is really going to write itself on this one.

well this is critical information, but I can see the system needs to create a database first, so yeah, they should have let us know (not sure if they did) that logging in with your main was top priority first.

The database should have been populated for the last week at min if they were going to go that route. Alternatively they could have just given every character echoes and there wouldn’t have been a problem. This was a foreseeable mess.

nope, literally not correct in the slightest. this is not remotely what people are angry about. your ability to read situations is very poor.

System designed by idiots. Nothing new.

They could fix this by just dropping the whole essences thing and giving us badges. Let people just buy an item that auto levels the Heart effect up to rank 3. Then people can work on rank 4 as their goal on a per character basis. Who cares at this point if someone buys rank 3 Lucid Nightmare on a Heart that did not have it to start?

Does it matter? I doubt it given where we are in the expansion.

Claiming that the system was created to respect player time really isn’t a honest or sincere statement at this point in the expansion. Just call it what it really is. A Time-Gate of a Time-Gate of a Time-Gate. Call Lucca Ashtear or Doc Emmett Brown to fix the temporal displacements if their too much.

This is just one more thing that makes me think they’ve left half the coding for this expansion to interns and trainees. (The tortollan mini-games, which are literally coding tutorial games skinned into WoW, was the first. I might have hated most of the Kirin Tor mini games, but at least they weren’t a thinly disguised Monkey Maze Game.)

I don’t think there are any good options now.

If they had been prompt they could have given all characters that didn’t receive echoes 500 as an apology. But its to late now.
There is to much time invested and its already released to do something else like account wide essences.
If they do nothing they lose accounts.

And to top this off it sounds like there is a second bug that might be affecting people that has not been fixed.

Is gear locked behind rep grinds and achievements? If essences just dropped from doing content, like gear does, rather than being locked behind re-grinding rep and re-earning achievements, I think we’d see a lot less interest in making them account wide.

Chromie, homie.

Weird, I intuitively logged into this character to see what the others would get from the vendor; I just assumed everyone would do the same?

I was pleasantly surprised, since it shows rank 3 ones that I did not unlock (only played Blood, so wasn’t sure how that worked.) So my hunter and priest probably have some they can use. Like it shows purification/whatever, that I never unlocked, rank 3.

Unfortunately, my priest and hunter have not progressed far enough to use essences yet  So they can’t even go in there. I guess that was a good thing.

But the weird thing is, why would you even HAVE to do that so the other characters could get echoes? That makes no sense. Why is it tied in THAT way? I could understand the other character not seeing the essence, on the vendor, but why would the main have to log in just for them to get the ECHOES?
