Thousands of threads are all screaming for two things.
Toggle visage form for combat.
Transmog/Customization options.
We have been told, “We are listening!” in almost every developer stream for about 3 years. We are coming off the heels of a DRAGON EXPANSION. Yet…They are determined to keep Evokers as ugly and unapproachable as possible to maintain their “draconic nature.”
Then you have people in the community that morally grandstand and say things like, “I want Evokers to be forced to use Dracthyr form so we are not some off-brand mage.” Conveniently forgetting that there are literally 4 other classes that are “Offbrand Mage” already in the game.
Why Blizzard? Why do you forsake us? Why do you hate your new baby? Let us have fun. Let us enjoy our characters how we want to.
Why do these threads always have to poke in a rude comment about Dracthyr being ugly? I feel like people would get a lot less defensive if folk weren’t so rude about their personal preferences acting as if its all objective. It doesn’t really add to the point.
But yes, transmog would be so so nice since they can’t even make tier set pieces match.
They just need to expand on the barbershop to give us armor that, at the very freaking least, matches the color palettes of our own tier.
I do not like visage form whatsoever, especially as its a BE Male (for Male Drac), and will never use it.
However, just because I don’t personally like visage form, doesn’t mean those that want to play in visage shouldn’t have it. While I may personally find that ridiculous and that we are supposed to be a ‘dragon-esque’ race, that does not mean I would want to hinder another player’s enjoyment as this is a video game.
So, imo, the best possible solution is:
Give us barbershop armor colors that at least matches our tier, or simply expand upon it. Oh, and maybe add some more options of armors?
Allow those visage people their chance to play a Scale Elf or Scale Human or what have you.
The concept that people think that common trends of tantrums on the forums= “wHaT tHE eNtIRe cOmMuNitY wAntS” is beyond delusional.
It’s like presuming the average restaurant-goers experience is terrible because there are a bunch of screaming Karens on their Yelp/Google reviews saying it’s the worst restaurant ever.
This forum, by and large, is an echo chamber of complaints. That doesn’t mean that it’s a good sample size of the evoker community (it’s not).
I don’t care about transmog and hope we get more races where i don’t have to worry about it. You have nearly every race in the game where you can transmog
Yeah i have scales and wearing a couple attachments is fine.
Dracthyr model would have been peak if blizzard didn’t put their foot half in the door to create some devs scaley fanfic and just created a great looking draconic race
You’re free to just play a mage of any other race you know
Pity the whiners were asking for drakonids, who are not great, only satisfy some teenage boy dysmorphia nonsense, look like scaled ogres, and do not fly like proper dragons.
Honestly yeah. The body as is is barely capable of showing gear and would probably require more retooling than literally any race ever added to the game (the fact that they’re still obviously only testing evoker tier pieces on bald human males is driving me nuts though)
I mean it would be a somewhat fair compromise but I’m sure it would be another “given an inch they demand a mile” scenario there too
Like as mean as I get about drakonid proportions they wouldn’t be a horrible AR for dracthyr, but I’ve been extremely soured by the nonsense whining from the Asmon crowd and reddit especially, and ultimately if you scale down a drake to player size you’re going to get something closer to a drac than a drakonid.
Yes, it is. There is no one suggesting that we take away the ability to use Dracthyr form. People want to just play in visage form. Saying that we shouldn’t allow that is morally grandstanding because you are saying they are meant to be dragon-esque and the devs intend them to be that way so they should be that way. This class has the least amount of players across the board, it is the #1 complaint the class has.
No it isn’t like the Druid argument. Druids complained for YEARS to have more customizations. Finally after legion they listened and began adding new models to be used. Now all races have their own variation of animals, there are new ways to get different forms in the game as well.
I know right? I find the Dracthyr to be kind of cute and even pretty regal looking if you know how to customize a character well. I think too many people have seen an earless hyper-beaked version that someone was intentionally trying to make “ugly” at some point and that’s just their entire perception on the race.
Imagine that the newest class locked to 1 race is the lowest represented not to mention the fact people after almost 20 years can’t manage the playstyle of 25 yards.
Ah yes, the hundreds of threads every day complaining about the same thing. Anytime you see a evoker in game they are in visage form. The constant jokes and laughs about how we look like freaks. The criticisms of our animations. None of this exists. None of it. It’s all because people don’t know how to play within 25 yards. Good work detective.
Because it’s two seperate words it was a little difficult to find in a dictionary so I asked chat gpt what it was and what the difference is between moral grandstanding and holding an opinion is. Here are the results
“Moral grandstanding is the act of using moral or ethical claims to gain attention, status, or approval from others, rather than engaging in a sincere discussion about the issue. It’s often characterized by exaggerated or insincere expressions of moral outrage, designed to showcase one’s own virtue or moral superiority. The focus is more on gaining social recognition than on addressing the substance of the moral issue at hand.”
“ Moral grandstanding and holding an opinion without changing it are distinct in their motivations and expressions:
Moral Grandstanding:
Motivation: Primarily seeks social approval or status by showcasing one’s moral superiority or virtue.
Expression: Often involves exaggerated claims, moral outrage, or attention-seeking behavior. The goal is to appear morally impressive to others rather than engage in genuine dialogue.
Flexibility: The underlying concern is not necessarily about the truth or a consistent belief but rather about how others perceive the individual.
Holding an Opinion Without Changing It:
Motivation: Genuinely believes in a particular stance and sticks to it based on personal values, experience, or reasoning.
Expression: Can be firm but respectful, and the individual may be open to discussion even if they don’t change their view.
Flexibility: The individual is committed to their opinion because they believe it is correct, not for social approval. They may or may not be open to revising it based on new evidence or reasoning.
In short, moral grandstanding is about public performance for status, while holding an opinion without changing it is about conviction, though potentially stubborn.”
So no it isn’t moral grandstanding, maybe don’t latch onto buzz words.
You mean the threads from the same few people?
I see lots of dragon evokers what are you talking about. Lots of people don’t mind being dragons
Most people don’t say any of that. Most don’t care. It’s only the small subsection of players that come here and scream like 2 year olds that they didn’t get their way.
