They’ll never do this because they can’t balance the specs properly. Some specs would struggle hard to time 20’s.
Last season when destro locks and survival hunters were dominating everybody, I kept hearing the same argument that “every class is viable for KSM so it doesn’t matter”. If they upped getting gear to 20’s, that whole argument imo would crumble
Yes destro and survival were too strong and needed for doing +32 keys, but that’s so much higher than low 20s it’s insane. Those can be done by any 5 specs.
Blood and survival are both considered “op” right now yet a team is timing 30s with neither spec.
There is no reason they couldn’t require 20-25 keys for the highest loot.
They can want what they want I guess, but last season I ran like 100 20-24 keys with a wide range of comps. Nobody in my guild even plays warlock at that level (even my warlock stayed under 3100).
This season, if it lasted long enough, would be the same. The next few season, we’re going into uncharted territory. I think breaking into +20 range is going to be a lot harder than people think with having all new dungeons for the first 2 seasons at least. Season 3 saw people walloping dungeons because everyone knew everything about everything. This season is all recent stuff too, people know the mobs and the routes. It’s gonna be harder.
+20 equivalent (which might be +5 or +10 with the higher baseline in DF) for mythic sounds fair to me, and another 20% up in scaling (whatever that turns out to be key wise) could give a token for End equivalent or whatever. How we they want to pair drops with difficulty, I’m down, is what I’m trying to say. As long as there’s a mountain to climb, I’ll climb it.
What I’m WAY more interested in is how they plan to gate it. Would they un-gate raiding, so people can farm one boss at a time through their profession? Unlikely. It’s more likely they’ll find some kind of quest or currency that lets you get 1 upgrade a week, which is fine I guess as long as you can catch up late in the Season somehow. But THAT mechanism will make or break m+ in dragon flight.
As it stands, m+ is a great way to get mediocre gear really fast, but horribly slow and timegated (with no catch up) to get good gear, and no path to great gear. Raiding had built in catch up, but that strength is also its biggest weakness - group size.
There’s a lot of moving parts, and they need to think it through before they move anything.
Performing a 20 in season 1 was a lot different than doing a 20 this season. You can tell me that every class was capable of doing a 20 in season 1? I remember differently
They’re buffing the item level of rewards, raising the baseline difficulty, and raising the difficulty/reward ratio. They also want to find a balance in the pace of gearing somehow. Gated Currency most likely.
Unfortunately for me, if mythic+ is nerfed so its no longer comparable loot to raiding, and you have to raid to finish gearing, it will spell the end. I don’t have the patience for raiding anymore, or the hands. It would be good for others, though. So if a change like that happens, I hope it helps some of you out.
It’s because world quest heroes don’t want to put in the work to get gear and would rather see the game suffer as a whole rather than play the game. If they gut M+ it won’t even last longer than the first patch because of the massive player dropoff. You kill M+ you kill the game because pvp is already dying and outside of the 2-3 nights you choose to raid there’s literally nothing else for you to log into the game for.
