It's currently terrible to play a priest

So much this ^…

They say it’s RNG… but after the third expansion of watching my group bounce between 1-3 dungeons each week… Something feels very off about the RNG.

M+ you play death and madness for the increased swd usage and insanity generation it provides.

Never play ToF in dungeons. It’s a toss up between misery and sn depending on group comp but a quick rule of thumb would be misery in ToP and Spires, SN elsewhere.

Ok I see. But everything you mentioned, the OP did not mention. Infact he said absolutely nothing.

The problem here is that your 1047 IO is too low for +15 keys. People want a minimum of 1200 IO for +15 keys in the current market. You’ll want to push getting all timed +14s and a few +15s and you’ll be up at 1200. That’s basically exactly what I did. I timed all +14s, started doing +15s, and now I’m 1 key short of all timed +15s.

I’m at 1318 IO and I get invited to most groups I apply too. I did 3 +15/16 keys last night after raid and I got instant invited to each one I applied too.

I’m also a Holy Priest. Keep pumping. Don’t give up.

Indeed, op chose to go on a self aggrandising rant instead of be specific about the issues. Regardless, these are the issues the spec has.

Disc priest was killing it in PvP yesterday, everyone was trying to kill it.

You always take Death with Searing Nightmare for mythic+ unless you are pulling packs <4. If you are brought along for your single target dps only, then you go Fortress with Misery always and it’s good for small pulls like in Theater of pain.

I know this has nothing to do with the topic, but do you have any advice for the holy priests who are trying to do +10? Since last week, I’m trying to make m + higher than +5 and I’m testing talents, rotation.

stop casting renew and switch your talents to
Trail of Light - for your legendary
Body and Soul - mobility
Guardian Angel - required
Shining Force - to help kiting
Surge of Light- for your legendary
Benediction - PoM on CD

Exactly this, brag all you want about pve but don’t even go there about your 2400 rbgs
Tons of priests are playing way better than you right now

Sure. Holy’s strength right now in M+ is built around the usage of the Flash Concentration legendary. At five stacks it makes your Heal cast as fast as Flash Heal, but for 60% more healing. So step one is I craft that Legendary and install the WeakAura I made for it: https://wago.io/SwnZZNQjD

This is the talent build I’m running atm: https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/game/talent-calculator#priest/holy/talents=2323121

I run Holy Oration Potency Conduit because it stacks with Light of the Naaru. It makes it so every 6-7 casts of Flash Heal/Heal resets Serenity versus the usual 12-15. However, you can run Apotheosis if you think it fits you better.

For M+ your stat priority is Haste > Crit > Versatility > Mastery. You’ll want at least 15% haste MINIMUM and 20%+ crit is desirable. Versatility you can get like 5-15% depending on gear. Mastery is your least desirable stat because people tend to not sit under 100% hp that long.

The reason for these stats is because your focusing on raw healing output. 5 FC Heal heals for about 5k a cast and you get Echo of Light and Trail of Light. You’ll want to maximize the use of Trail of Light because you can top off two people simultaneously. This is important for countering Pridefuls because you basically have to heal 5 people through a 5k dot that hits every 2s.

Tanks get hit hard and constantly on Fortified week so you have to keep pumping heals into them constantly to keep them alive. You’ll want to cast Serenity on cooldown and focus on keeping your 5 stacks of Flash Concentration up at all times. Surge of Light helps with this.

You also have PoM which you should cast on cooldown as well as CoH, Renew, Prayer of Healing, Sanctuary, etc. which you use for AOE healing. Renew is good for topping off low priority people. Divine Hymn should be popped when the parties at like 60-75% or less hp.

You’ll also want to help damage when you can. On trash you’ll want to try and put a SWP on each mob and keep it up when it falls off, but your first priority is keeping the tank alive. Squeeze in holy fires, smites, divine stars, holy novas, etc. whenever you can.

Guardian Spirit is your “oh crap” and tank cooldown button. It’s main benefit is that it can be talented down to a 1 minute reset so you can use it basically all the time you feel the tank is threatened or want to top them off.

Also, you’ll want to drink inbetween trash pulls for atleast 5s to keep your mana up. A minimum of 25% mana should get you through a prideful.

Overall though the only real advice I can give is to keep practicing and learning the dungeons. Eventually you’ll know how to react to every boss/trash pack to counter them.

Class balance is garbage this expac.

Blizzard must have laid off the people who have done this in the past… or stretched them so thin that they can’t do a good job.

Funny thing - as bad as Priests are in certain circumstances, we’re flat out OP compared to some.

i dont like divine star unless the group is melee heavy.

I actually like it. You have to position yourself to hit multiple people and it’s good for throwing dps at trash.

Divine Star is definitely my favorite for dungeons.

moving into position and the global bother me. it’s very pretty and effective though. if only Apoth caused it to also apply renews.

I nearly always go Misery. Is unfurling darkness any good?

OK, thanks!

i hear ya. i dont even attempt m+ anymore. no point. compared to rshams and rdruids who just cheese hots and sip coffee im keyboard smashing and oom every trash pack and barely keep people up. why would i bother when my class is so undertuned for mythic healing. but ive found priests are always good somewhere. so right now im grinding to 1800+ rbgs and hopefully 2000+ over the next month. disc in pvp is super fun and awesome. disc in pve, raids, mythic. not so good. holy in pve sucks too. except really big raids. and i dont really play shadow but i know they are tanky and very utility. but theres to many broken classes getting the invites. why bring a spriest when you can bring a broken class that does ludicris damage. its the same in pvp right now

Isnt Disc priest the best healer for mythic+ and raiding atm?
And shadow priests are A - Teir as per basically all the ratings.
