The balance is as bad as it objectively is. The impact that has on the likelihood a key is completed, given all the other non-class related factors, is much less though, I agree.
Doesn’t stop me looking at my own spec choice with no br, no lust, no group damage buff, mediocre burst aoe, poor mob control, and an interrupt twice the cd of everyone else’s and wondering how this happened…
Can’t you spec into the old Void Form to have bigger burst windows?
Idk, i don’t know Priest much so won’t tell you how to play but there’s ways around some of these aspects, i feel.
You do bring a lot of more defensive utility too.
For BR you can cover that with engineering because realistically outside of that there’s only 3 classes that have access to it.
But i agree the problem will have be that people just can’t play outside the meta past like +10s in pugs (which is the point where i feel people should stop pugging anyway).
Disc is great in M+. Moadmoad is the best healer in the world at the moment and isn’t even a Resto Shaman.
Destro is good for mid keys and Aff is starting to make a bit of a strong case for itself in higher keys. And Resto Shaman is easily the best overall healer for keys, although Disc and Resto Druid are both competitive.
I didnt even know he meant shadow till I reread the post as he first mentions 2400rating and then dps classes. I thought he meant healing priests were bad or something vs those dps classes, but nope, he meant shadow. And he meant shadow in pve. Talks highly of himself, ok fine. But no where, NO WHERE does he say What is Wrong with shadow, other than the public perception of priests. What is wrong with the spec? Damage output? Is this so? Any other ppl care to input
This is mostly about mythic plus or what?
Shadow is obviously a top tier spec for raiding.
In mythic plus they do historically poorly, but they still offer very good damage and now have a wider utility kit.
I was surprised to see how much healing they can contribute. One outhealed me and a healer at key packs in the dungeon the other day!
They also got mind soothe, fort is now more important than it was, and mass dispel some weeks is absolutely huge.
I don’t understand what you think is going on in mists specifically but I see no reason mists could not work with a good priest.
There are quite a few things to dispel too, if I remember correctly and two key skips can be set up with mind soothe.
Just don’t conflate raid and PvP with mythic plus. They will never have mythic plus fully balanced ever.
It’s impossible.
Lack of “big ticket” desirable utility, and a painfully long interrupt cd. Damage is mostly fine, though it’s a lot of effort.
When people want lust, battle Rez, multiple low cd interrupts, damage buffs, and effective ways to cheese especially potent boss mechanics, and shadow brings none of those things, it’s in for a rough time with invites.
I am having fun on my shadow priest. Out of all the range class I actually felt it is the most smooth game play with good AoE and ST.
Desto Warlock not much AoE, Chaso bolt don’t do enough damage overall not very moble
Demo Warlock damage is lacking
Alff way too much to keep trace on trash and setup take a long time(by then most FOTOM class already kill the mobs) good ST though
Frost mage damage is too low overall. Is too boring just to FB and fish for proc
Arcane decent damage but very very boring just to spam the thing again and again outside of CD
Boomkin really good damge but I hate how escplie works (my own issue)
BM hunter decent damage, not so much damage AoE but boring play
MM great great but feels chuncky to play
Ele shammy Seems alright but not as fun as shadow priest.
However, I refuse to heal on pugs. Too risky you either get an awesome group or a terrible one. Terrible ones will have you pulling your hair if you try to heal.
Stun is so much better the only time you would not pick it over Last Word is if you had a boomkin and no resto shaman or if you are playing with highly coordinated squad that have some good cheese planned out.
If you were complaining about it being rough getting into 18 and 19 keys… I’d say you have a point. But 15’s? Any class/spec can do that… Especially at your ilvl. If your beef is with the pug scene… not inviting, well… that’s just how it is with the pug scene where even a tiny difference between classes is perceived as an enormous difference.
If your guild isn’t running with you because they think priests are bad… Then they’re stupid… Again… particularly if we’re talking about 15/16 keys…
There will always be a “meta” and no you will not always be on it. But you are not a broken class, and bring plenty to the table.
For what ever reason you get the same two or three dungeons all week.
I would really like to know WTF the design goal of that is because it’s certainly not fun. Even if you get a key you like you get sick of it.
Probably some extreme helicopter dev’ing non concern like trying to get us to group with different people or keeping us away from dungeons that have an upgrade.
