i think rshams and rdruids everywhere would disagree. not when you can just spam hots and not even work hard to clear mythics. maybe the super 10% top players in the world, which i am not, discs might be up there. but at the crappy 205ivl stuff i run…it aint worth it for me
my friend made a cow priest. He has never been so happy about playing as a priest.
Ive cleared normal Castle and the first few of heroic.
My guild runs with 1 priest, 2 druids, 1 shammy (sometimes), 2 monks and myself a holy paladin.
Every single one of us ranges around 4k-5k depending on the fight but usually within a few mill overall.
I don’t see what you’re referring to with shammys and druid being the best because that’s not even slightly correct based on my experience raiding.
Also, wowlogs show Hpally being the top spots for most healers atm.

Depends, I’ve done 15s with a disc priest in my guild.
meh. i dunno. i just know i dont do m+. no point as a healer. just raid and do rated pvp. keeps you current with gear and its fun. if i never step foot in m+ this xpac ill be totally happy. im just not a hardcore priest for dungeons. maybe when im full mythic and pvp geared ill go back and explore m+. but running oom entire dungeon just isnt fun for me.

I was thinking about making a similar post but haven’t simply because people are going to think I don’t know what I’m talking about because I don’t do mythic raids, or have top world parses or raider io scores.
Here are a list of things priests currently suck at. I’m talking about the perspective of shadow, but a lot of it also applies to healing.
- AOE damage. It’s just not good. We have to commit multiple talents just to do decent damage. In a kiting meta we can’t even utilize searing nightmare to it’s full potential. I’ve actually had better success with misery in a lot of keys around 10. Most dungeons aren’t pulling large enough packs to really utilize searing nightmare that well. Not to mention the tank will start running all over the place greatly diminishing the effectiveness of it.
Want to do aoe damage on raid trash? Better respec your talents constantly.
- Mobility. Absolutely the worst mobility class in the game and it’s especially punishing for casters with the kind of mechanics they’re creating in the game.
Surrender madness let’s us cast while moving but if you don’t kill a target within 25 seconds you die. This is not practical because whenever you want to move and cast you’re probably not going to kill something in 25 seconds anyways. I simply don’t understand why we have to die when using this ability. The power level of it doesn’t equate to the downside. And it’s only practical where bosses summon adds to kill.
Void torrent is great right? Wrong. You have to perfectly time it in windows where you’re not expected to be moving. If it comes up while you’re running around or have to be moving you lose out on a cast.
We have a talent that lets us run a bit faster but it’s a complete joke.
- Lack of powerful utility. Power infusion is fine but it’s nothing special.
45 second interrupt cd; talents down to 30. Complete joke. Which competes with a stun talent.
Mind Soothe. Sure, fine, but overall the power level of them is fairly low.
MC, whatever.
The short of it. If you invite a priest to your group don’t expect useful cc or interrupt ability.
What should change? Well I can think of a few things specifically that would make a huge difference.
- Remove the death penalty on surrender to madness. Or give us a baseline move while casting ability.
- Either searing nightmare or Shadow crash should be baseline. I prefer making shadow crash baseline.
- Body and Soul Should be baseline.
- 30 Second interrupt should be baseline.
- For pve change mind control so that we can cast while we have a minion under our control. Put it on a CD if you think it’s too strong.
ZERO of these changes would make shadow priest OP. But they would make them in line with what other classes are capable of. Yes, you’ll have to create some new talent choices for priests. But you should anyways because our current choices are garbage on a lot of rows.

OP is trolling and you can tell because they said “there are very few priests in the world that are playing better than I am” while having very easily achievable things done so far.

Nothing sad, op doesn’t know her class. Shadow priest and disc priest are top in their roles they don’t need to be touched, they can’t be perfect at everything.

i had so much trouble on my disc priest in arena with my warrior bf lol. i just go oom immediately with this bursty meta and it’s probably just me or the non ideal comp but i’m working on my rshammy and i never go oom, it just feels better to play. i feel like disc needs the cost of shield reduced.
I don’t understand the shadow word death health penalty.
It’s kind of hard to say, really. Disc is leaning on a broken spirit shell a lot, holy is lacking both throughput and utility even in raids which is a first since the Legion redesign, and shadow is an okay spot but still suffers the “no utility” baggage priests get saddled with.
Blizz really needs to re-balance for mythic+ the way they do for PvP, they need to stop making disc so cheesy every tier, and frankly holy could use a buff to its weaker spells.
