It's been fun y'all

Yeah, B and Crepe were a couple of the good ones. :slightly_smiling_face:

Crepe would get involved sometimes with the drama, but not that much.

Mirasol is another good one. Got involved with drama, but always to give factual information that was needed.

I initially mentioned crepe too in that but realized maizou likely wouldn’t have remembered him either and then I’d have just looked forum old. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: so I deleted the reference from the post lol

I think you’ve made a mistake. Changes don’t come quickly and you were successful with what you were doing, but changing direction was going to be a marathon not a sprint and you’ve quit after the first few miles. I don’t blame you for feeling discouraged, I just wish I had caught you ahead of the decision. Thanks for trying anyway.

I know Crepe. I just literally don’t think I’ve ever seen Byucknah post

Snowfox, Crepe, Mirasol, and one other I can’t remember are the only MVPs I think I’ve seen lol.

He Who Must Not Be Named ruined it for everyone else, including you legendary text ones. The forums see alternative colored text and sees red.

you will never get ahead on the forums even if you have a great idea. i been here spewing ideas since BC and WOTLK. and even when they are the greatest game changing for the better ideas the forum trolls will derail the entire thread.

fast forward 2-3 weeks these same tools will have started their own thread with your idea. i gave up years ago giving any serious ideas. and i do have a lot of them. i even have some class / specs designed down to the core that i have been working on over the years in my spare time. wow is my only hobby outside of my businesses. i live and breath this game.

Some of the forum MVP’s gave up with BfA, so we lost a few there. There was also an issue with some forum regulars arguing with them all the time, and who wants to deal with that.

Thanks for your time and patience .Good luck man

B became an MVP during BfA in 2018. Ornyx and Ythisens led a revamp of the program and asked for applications. Several new MVPs came on board then, and several who were already MVPs like Crepe were rolled in too.

It was on the last forum software so that is lost to time, but the announcement is mirrored on Wowhead.

That was the most recent time anyone was made a WoW Community MVP. The last green overall I know of is Perl for the Customer Support/Tech Support MVP program, which was still a couple years ago.

I was Zinrockin.

I stepped down because life got busy and I didn’t have much time for WoW. I appreciated the program though and encourage active forum posters with a constructive presence on the forums to apply to the program!

Well honestly, somehow as MVP you evaded my i_nore so good for you (I’ll be careful here because saying you i_nore anyone with green or orange text on the forums is a fast way to get a forum vacation due to moderation favoritism. Grats on dumping the “look at me look at me” text color! You must have been one of the less s_mp ones to avoid being ignored so you’ll do fine without the attention seekign text color

They have not opened applications for the MVP program since 2018 and have not mentioned any plans to do so.

Not sure that the future plans for a WoW Community MVP program are.

If so, I hope you are doing better than you were in 2018 and the few years after.

MVPs and CCs don’t actually mean anything and Blizzard doesn’t really hold your words any higher than a normal poster. 99% of the blue posts on the forums are just CS reps, which are also outside of the loop 99% of the time. You guys aren’t developers, you’re not a part of any of the Blizzard development team, you guys aren’t geniuses solving complex unsolvable differential equations for class balance, etc etc. You guys are just good at placating the forums like CS reps at the front desk of a grocery store and have a lot of time on your hands to do so.

Point is, get off of the high horse of expectations that you think being an MVP means and lower your bar of expectations: You’re just here to interact with people on the forums and add some occasional food for thought.

I do hope they re-open applications to the program in the future as I enjoyed chatting directly to the community managers and among other MVPs about a variety of WoW things.

As for me I’m doing alright. Had a full-time job working for the government for a little over a year starting at the end of 2020 which gave me some professional experience to start working in call center roles. In between jobs right now due to an accident where I got struck by a car at no fault of my own commuting home from work on my bike (had that on video which was useful for my lawyers) which rendered me incapable of completing the physical requirements on a probationary period on a promotion I earned. I submitted an ADA request from my doctor in the morning and was let go that afternoon (companies can use probationary periods as a loophole where they can do this even if it’s ethically questionable as they are not required to provide a reason for separation).

I showed up every day to my job on time never late Monday through Friday, cared for the clients to the limits of the scope of my role, and did my best to support my team so I have a lot of good professional references from the agency trainer to someone who was there over 30 years.

But since November when that happened I’ve recovered and I’ve been applying for work and staying in shape by hitting the gym and trying to do 15,000 steps a day or more. There’s a whole lot of people rooting for me and referring me to job opportunities outside the ones I find in my search so that has helped.

I don’t remember, so someone refresh my memory: was Metro viewed as toxic because he liked to argue with/make fun of GD’ers? Or was it that one Youtube video?

Dunno about the holier-than-thou thing, my bigger concern with the program is the tendency towards white-knightery.

Basically, almost all the posts are pro-ion’s decisions/pro-Blizzard/white-knight-y, it does get noticeable after a while. Especialy with Metro, I actually used to watch his stream sporadically back in 2019-2020 and this dude basically just “towed the company line” with his commentary.

I remember he said something to the effect of “BFA is just the best expansion ever”, then Shadowlands launched and he was like “Shadowlands is just the best expansion of all time”. After a while I thought to myself “OK, this dude is just completely bought and paid for” :joy:

I don’t know what “terms and conditions” come with the MVP program behind the scenes, or how they are compensated (free gametime? store credits? “real” money?), but you definitely start to notice the pro-Blizzard/white-knight-y tone in the writing style when you’ve skimmed thru enough MVP postings

I thought it was because he was rather toadyish.
