I agree with the comment about the GDKPs. That’s exactly what I saw too.
Raid logging wasn’t worse in Classic in my experience (people would sometimes raid log their main and play an alt with the world buff thing) but there is something else that could have caused that thinking about it more and that’s Covid. I have guild members who always raid log now who got rank 11, 12, or 13 in PVP because they had nothing else to do since they were trapped in the house.
Why raid? its TBC, you dont have to deal with 40 mans or broken Grand marshal rank14 system anymore. You get loot for free from ARENA!!
oh wait… you cant cuz they changed it to retail MMR system and everyone is stuck at 1100-1600 rating LOL.
makes no sense for anyone.
if you are high rated, you have no one to farm, risk losing more points and have a tighter gladiator margin.
if you are low rated, it will take you over a month to buy 1 piece of gear.
worse of all, this system doesnt encourage newcomers to wow to try and enter the pvp system.
They are literally killing their own game!
I feel your pain because even PVErs are upset
they made over $25,000-50,000 on server Xfers just on my server alone.
Herod lost about 1000-2000 active alliance raiders to Benediction and thats not including horde.
But if they merge servers, the people who paid for Xfers will riot.
That’s another element, with lockdown people had nothing else to do but play videogames. But everything has opened up so people have more responsibilities, distractions and other stuff other than being inside all day
Hilarious because everyone who had a clue in their head called all of this before launch, and said things like buffs and dual spec would keep people playing.
TBC is killing rampantly all casual guilds, i migrated to faerlina with my mage, and i was a witness, of how 8 guilds disbanded since phase 2 started, join one guild disbanded, and another and another, the common denominator of reasons, burnout attunements and difficulty of raids, and no time for raiding. In this thread I was able to verify that my suspicions were not wrong. Not to mention this also exhausted me mentally so hard that I decided to erase my character and start again, with a hunter, if this does not work I think I will stop raiding, and playing ultra casually like doing a kara every three weeks lol, cheer up guys.
It killed casual guilds in 07-08 too, since raids only had one difficulty bosses ramped up towards the end.
Lurker is easy, tidewalker is harder, vashj is the hardest in ssc. So your casual guild could farm part of the instance, it could not clear it all. People then got a little upset that raid bosses weren’t being seen by more of the community and Blizz added easier modes going forward which gave casual guilds content to do. However the same issues still occur because after clearing the normal modes guilds then want to continue to progress through heroics, then mythics and then disband because they can’t clear that content so…know knows how to save casual players as they’re pretty flakey at the best of times.
I was definitely more of a flaky player when I was playing very casually because there was no ties to the game through things like progressing content or ranking
