It's 2024, why are we still punished for not having a guild?

I went to use my hearthstone, and realized because I am not in a guild it’s obscenely long, like 30 min CD or something. You telling me in order to have my hearthstone be useful I am forced to join a random guild? I get kicked from guilds because of “inactivity” as I go long times without logging in

You could join Altoholics they have a completely unlocked guild vendor. I’ve gone on long stretches of inactivity on alts and they have never been kicked before. They don’t raid or have requirements for entry. All members can invite members. Now though I usually join them and pick up the cloak before adding alts to my personal bank guild. I have two accounts for signatures if you want to set up your own thing though.

You’re also punished for not having the enchant homebound speed

Just give it 30 minutes, you’ll be in the middle of a dungeon boss and get a guild invite pop up on your screen.

You’ll accept it.

Then you’ll never talk to them and forget you’re in a guild while you enjoy the perks of being in one.

a mild inconvenience isn’t punishment.

there are already so many travel options

i can’t even think of a time where i’ve needed to use a hearthstone twice in an hour.

sounds like you’re punishing yourself with poor planning

It also frequently punishes IRL players for playing together.

WoW is primarily a solo game for many - that’s the only option I have - advice to OP - on an alt create a guild, list the guild, then on alts sign up via the ingame guild finder. Change back to the original and accept all the invitations.

You are now in a guild.

The chances are that even if you and your friends are playing wow, you won’t be at the same level. You may not share the same interests. Somebody’s going to be carrying somebody else, which isn’t really the same as playing together.

How does one get permission to post pointless memes in here ?

If you have a lot of alts, I think it’s easier to just pay for some signatures and start your own guild. Problem solved.

“I only play once in a blue moon but not having a shorter CD on my hearthstone is somehow this huge anti-solo-player punishment that compells me to post in the GD forums!”

…?

Just join another one. Plenty of social guilds out there.

That’s probably because the game is meant to be played with a guild so the game itself gives you even little things to encourage that.

Just join any random social guild, they usually don’t kick for inactivity unless they reach max cap, you can always remove the guild chat from chat’s tabs if it bothers you seeing the green text. Right now is probably the best time to join a guild, pre-patch has lots of people recruiting for all kinds of content as well as new social guilds being created, so they will take longer to start kicking people.

Or race change to Human, I understand the have a new Hearthstone racial.

So… not having the Homebound speed enchant, not using the Dalaran hearth or Garrison hearth or the myriad of other hearthing type toys and rings, etc is now Blizz’s fault?

And somehow it’s bad to want to incentivize guilds so people have friends to do organized content with?

Weird take.

Because you’re playing an mmo, being social is going to be required to do things. Join a guild or play something else.

There are 10+ teleportation devices. Plenty of alternatives.

Guilds are overrated these days, I make sure to turn on auto reject guild invite as people invite me in droves everytime I log in but all they want is another person to force through Mythic plus and PvP and I simply don’t got the time nor do i care for such things. Unless they’re going to carry my sorry butt through 10 rated BG wins so i can finally get the black bear skin on my druid as I suck at PvP I can’t be bothered.
