I am recently back after a few months of hiatus. Prior to leaving, I purchased two legendary crafting pieces (Grim-Veiled Hood and Grim-Veiled Cape) with the intention of sending them to an alt. I never did send them (as far as I remember) so they evidentlyeidently stayed on this warlock.
I came back a few days ago, and the items are missing. I know I didn’t use them, and they’re not on any of the alts that would’ve been able to use them. I created a ticket, and the GM was able to see the items in my bags, my Hexweave bags specificially, indicating that it’s on my warlock. However, I just don’t see them. He advised to disable all addons and do a UI reset. I did both, following the instructions on the support page (renaming the folders to CacheOld, WTFOld, etc) and it didn’t help. They’re still not showing.
He said the final step would be reinstalling the game, which I can do, but does anyone have any other ideas for what I can do? I know a GM can’t restore the items, not looking for that, just curious if there’s something he or I may have missed in trying to recover these. Yes, I’ve searched for the item in both my banks and my bags. Also, just for fun I went to the runecarver to see if he let me make a legendary, and he says I’m missng the armor pierces.
Unless I’m completely going insane I just have no idea what I’m doing wrong to not see these things.
TL;DR grim-veiled items missing from bags, GM confirms they’re in there, but I can’t see them despite disabling addons and resetting UI
If you are using a bag manager addon or the like, be sure that you are viewing all the bag slots. Its easy to accidentally set one to hidden and anything contained within it won’t be seen.
Thank you for trying to help, yes I did this. I didn’t /reload or anything, I went into the folders as mentioned in the support article after disabling all addons, reloaded the game and nothing there
Nephe, thanks for helping. Yes, I do use a bag manager addon but I disabled it (and everything else) and I still had no luck. They’re re-enabled now, so I went into settings and nothing is set to hidden. I even used the addon to search for the item and it didn’t come up with anything
This just happened to me for the first time today. (8/31/23) I did all of the suggested changes and removed all add ons and still had the problem. So while in the game I chose escape, Options and then under game play choose controls. I had COMBINE BAGS selected. I unchecked it and all my items came back. I did this before reinstalling my add ons and it seemed to correct the problem.
I’ve had similar issues for months ever since the major addon changes went in (disabling previously-relied-upon functions that many addons used) but I can always resolve it by mainmenu->addons-> disabling bagnon, and then after bagnon is updated it doesn’t happen again. (and hasn’t for a while, but it might be back!)
I suggest emptying a bank bag slot completely (remove the bag), empty all your bags via banking and mailing stuff to an alt, and then trying to put those bags in your bank slot. Maybe this will reveal it. After each bag, put it inside of a bank bag or your main backpack. If it has stuff in it, you won’t be able to.
If the two items are in your main permanent backpack, with it looking empty right-clicking things in your bank will auto-transfer them to the first open inventory slot, which should at least let you fill your bag and let you see which slots the magical invisible pieces are in. Maybe there is a macro command to transfer items from an inventory space to a bank space.
