Itemization in WoW Classic

Yea R14 is not something everyone will achieve. BRE though… It literally negates everything until AQ 40. Pvp wise it’s ridiculous, I main a warrior and being broken might see fun but I think it will make a better progression for everyone to upgrade it in different patches.

In pve alone Thunderfury tanks have to be on their game to hold threat vs a BRE warrior. How are they going to hold threat in the first tier ?

So essentially, systems/fixes/variations will be in final state, but when it comes to the introduction of new content that will be based on phase.

Can we expect quest hubs to not all be out? Would magic wands from enchanting not be in at launch?
Can we see unarmored mounts then until the updated ones are added in, but with the 1.12 riding system from the getgo?

So many questions to consider!

Everyone keeps talking about R14 gear, guys even the Rank 7-10, 1.12 versions are over-tuned for phase 2 through to phase 5, and much more managable to get. The level 58 Blue PVPs items should be released in this phase not the epic 1.12 versions. Literally, everyone who knows what they are talking about are saying these items will be OP broken.

so TL;DR we are too lazy to update each item, and will allow the op 1.12 values with the release of mc, making mc much more easy. These were buffed because many players already had raid items, as a way to sort of catch up. They will trivialize early raids.

Release date??? haha

Got it. Thanks for the clarification, Kaivax.

You mention vendors and boss drops, but what about quests and quest rewards?

In particular:

  1. Silithus Cenarion Circle quests (mentioned at Blizzcon but not in updated content plan)
  2. Searing Gorge Thorium Brotherhood quests
  3. Revantusk Village Jintha’alor quests
  4. Level 50 Sunken Temple class quests

Well, I don’t think everyone will be happy. But at least we know the “why”.

Blizz is going all “1.12” on us, I’d assume that includes pre-60 quest hubs too.

They’re including Maraudon at launch even though that wasn’t added until post-launch in retail, so I think those quests at searing/hinterlands will be in as well, they’re mostly the same thing.

I think they were complaining about 1.12 AV in the hopes Blizzard would alter their plans like they did for Loot Trading. But, seeing Blizzard has said yet again that it’s based on 1.12, I think it’s set in stone now.

Yes, R14 weapons in particular are just the most extreme example since they are essentially as good as stuff you get in Naxx. Not a good idea to have that in the game so early. But you are right, there’s a lot of PvP gear that’s going to be OP. And instead of having PvP gear be an alternate and separate progression from PvE gear, you’re going to have a lot of people ranking in order to gear up for raid content. This completely changes the meta in comparison to vanilla. It’s closer to a private server experience in that sense.

Enchanting wands were in the game since launch, and then upgraded to green quality in 1.8, so they’ll be in their final 1.12 state like everything else

That probably wasn’t an easy one to type out or decide which way to go. While I do have some concerns around the final form of some items I appreciate the transparency, update, and stance. We’ve already seen that you’re willing to change when the change makes sense, so we’re trusting your judgement here. Thank you Classic Team

this is all fine and good Kaivax…

but i think we can all agree that the final stat itemization for Tier 1 Lawbringer was absolute dog poop:
https://classic.wowhead.com/item-set=208/lawbringer-armor

compared to the original stats on the each piece:
http://web.archive.org/web/20050207013827/http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/itemset.html?setid=208

Other than the 8/8 set bonus for group AoE heals on Thaddius or Loatheb, no Paladin wants this gear - even Holy Paladins don’t want it cause they can get better +healing stats from 5man dungeons lol

#BringBackOriginalLawbringer!

Having the 1.12 items in will diminish Molten Core and more… If we’re going to be just using the last backup for everything because they’re too lazy to put in the time required, I guess… Uhhg, its just going to be so easy. F for respects.

And many people continue to complain because many see pre-nerf AV as funner and more authentic.

As much as I would like to go through all the itemization changes as they happened, I always knew it just wasn’t feasible. This though process simply makes the most logical sense. Still SUPER stoked and waiting impatiently for Classic!

Great question! I’d love an understanding on how they will roll out quest hubs that aren’t tied to Phased raid content (ZG, AQ, Naxx).

Will I be able to quest through Silithus in my upper 50s and get the reputation (Cenarion Circle?) before AQ is released?

So caster’s can’t have things like Spellweaver’s Turban and Diana’s Pearl necklace, but melee can have things like 1.10 Savage Glad chain and R14 Weapons and gear. The 1.11 updated R13 shoulders are basically best in the game for fury warriors, and savage glad chain is pretty much on par with gear from AQ40.

Kind of questionable. Considering casters are generally weaker than melee in Vanilla.

Fun is a fair point.

The “more authentic” arguments are just people claiming that it’s not real Vanilla unless it’s the exact version they want, which is absurd as arguments go.

My only real problem with this is that the updated pvp gear is way to good for the phase its being released at.
