Itemization in WoW Classic

I agree the explanation was fair… look im sure blizzard will make changes if something turns up to be to much OP. Just remember to have other gear just in case they nerf soething you use.

Amazing post thanks for all of the hard work on this blizzard. I love everyone

Cross realm BG’s confirmed. Thanks blizz! <3

I wonder what the workplace atmosphere must be like these days. Is creativity actually welcomed or stifled?

Hopefully not until CP6, but yeah, its pretty much confirmed.

If you look at most AAA companies these days… the top doesn’t even listen to the people working on the project.

Supposedly this is the reason Anthem launched in such a sorry state.

Your use of the term launch is quite kind.

TBF I quite like the game, but the end game is more then lacking, it’s a travesty.

I think the Anthem saga is really a modern day Tale of Two Cities.

I’ve never actually read that haha (we had to read… the one about the poor boy and the rich lady, name escapes me) but if it has anything to do with the main devs not listening to the texas devs… yea, that was a mess considering the texas devs were the only ones with multiplayer/mmo exp.

oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! More Classic info! A perfect way to start the weekend! Thanks Kaivax!

P.S. I’m eagerly awaiting my beta invite.

When the business side supersedes the innovative side, a company will end up just releasing things like:
i-Phone 33
Call of Duty 26
World of Warcraft 15: You get everything (new expansion)
Fifa 70
(numbers reflect full releases.)

And I have a feeling there’s nothing we can do about it, outside not buying them. Unfortunately, there’s enough people who are fine with it to keep it afloat.

Ultimately, WoW Classic is the key factor in keeping me somewhat invested into Blizzard right now.

There needs to be compensation then for these bug fixes. Some would argue that some of those bugs were mechanics that made the experience fun. I’d suggest buffing the bosses to compensate for making them easier. This update makes me less excited for vanilla just like the AV update. It takes away from what original vanilla was. There are ways to compensate the changes but also keep the experience similar enough without making things too easy since we do infact have knowledge of everything that is vanilla.

Hello Kaivax,

There is still one more thing that is still not clear to me.

The pvp reward gear in 1.4/5 whatever, was actually it’s own unqiue gear, and not a stat change…until 1.12 pvp gear completely replaced it.

Are we going to have the original pvp gear in the game in phase 2, while the new pvp gear will be available in phase 6?

This would be consistent with how the other gear works… the only difference is that the original pvp gear was taken out of the game.

Reminds me of episode 2 of Electric Dreams.

Thanks for the update! There are both ups and downs to having progressive itemization but thanks for explaining why it won’t happen. I’m happy with the answer.

How about items that were complete garbage until some later patch? Patch 1.10/1.11 upgraded a lot of useless items like Deathbone set pieces, after the itemization revamp they were much better than T1 molten core loot. Are they gonna be in game during phase 1?

Thanks for the update, this clear’s up something i asked before about the ZG update with the loot tables. Though i do find it odd, since you’re not rolling back itemization at all, why roll back loot in 5 mans? Though this will make old Pre-raid BIS list mostly obsolete so that’ll be fun to see how they turn out!

Love the detail, communication, and reasoning.
As always Kaivax, appreciated.

I’m on board with 1.12 for classic, but I’m a bit worried for future Classic servers if this stance is always taken. Of course we aren’t going to have this conversation now… I don’t mean to bring it up, necessarily, however the Dev team shouldn’t always assume the ‘last, most polished’ patch is the best for the game.

7.3.5 was not the best Legion iteration.
2.4.3 was not the best TBC iteration.
To name a few. Of course, subjective, but something I feel needs more of a deep dive a few years from now.

Define “compensation”. You aren’t ‘entitled’ to anything, and Blizzard giving us Classic is a concession to our passionate desire for the game to exist, not something we’re ‘owed’.
