Hi,
I stopped playing sometime in Legion due to life circumstances and basically never looked at my battle.net account or the email it was associated with since then. I resubbed a few days ago to check out the game before Dragonflight and found most of my characters stripped. I assume my account was hacked and I simply never noticed it. My account is secure and has an authenticator now but a few years late, apparently.
I am not especially missing the clutter that used to be in my bags but whoever it was took the time to delete or sell some unique legendaries of mine I really liked that are impossible to get again on the same character. (Dragonwrath being one).
I tried the automated item restoration service and it did not bring anything up, I assume since this must have occurred years upon years ago.
Are my items gone forever and I just have to deal with it or is it possible to recover at least the major ones that have achievements associated with them?
I would open i was hacked ticket and see what a GM can do They mite not be able to restore all toons MAYBE and i emphizie maybe a GM mite be able to help these kinda logs dont last forever and were talking months not years. I will warn u tickets are averaging 7-8 days.

If you’re positive that you didn’t sell everything off before leaving the game last time (a lot of people do this), then your only option really would be to put in a ticket:

It’s possible that a GM can look into it, but when it comes to compromises, time is of the essence. If it really was hacked years ago, then there is not likely anything that can be done, nor would there likely be many logs left from back then.
But it doesn’t hurt to ask.
Lastly, it’s good that you added an authenticator, but also make sure that your e-mail and computer are secure as they would had to have gotten your login details from you somehow.

I am quite confident I did not delete my items. I still have some of my significant items like Shadowmourne and the legendary daggers. Are not GMs able to see if quests are flagged as completed and use achievement timestamps as verification of historical ownership?
It’s rare that they can use achievements to reinstate items on an account. I mean, generally speaking, if it’s not nailed down, a hacker will run some scripts and literally sell everything on an account so that they can “sell” the gold to someone else.
But if there are no logs showing that the account was compromised (which if we’re talking years here, then there won’t likely be any), then there’s usually not a lot a GM can do.
