K so let me give you some brain juice. We all know that FFXIV as at least 1 mil subs or active accounts because of the system that goes in and checks when a character get certain achievements and counts it. 100,000 of 1mil is 10%, a 10th. There you go, congratulations.
Lost Ark is only available through Steam so…those are the only correct numbers.
14 has never gone FTP. There’s the trial and a “welcome back” campaign they do every once in a while as well as like… a free weekend. Again, only a 10th play on steam.
Yeah for real, Yu Gi Oh was always played and never went away and kept having card games that did relatively well. Stop thinking you’re a kid, manchild.
It’s almost like you can see it’s a common thought that ARR has a horrendous story.
Again, it’s the dev’s job, if even they supposedly admit ARR’s story is bad, to make the other stories accessible to new players before they’ve sunken dozens of hours into the game.
You can hate on Blizzard all you want, but at least the devs did this, with Chromie Time.
Yeah, you can totally do the no award winning and largely hated Battle for Azeroth storyline! (well, not all of it, you get to start it, then get yanked out of it)
-Hey I’m the champion! What am I the champion of? What did I do?
-Oh now I’m in Jail, did someone not tell them I’m the champion? Who is this Orc guy?
-Oh Ocean Trolls! Now I’m in Wakanda
-Dinosaurs…
-OOPS, now I’m in hell where I get to hang out with…
Wizard Lady - Some human you never met before. Is she from Frozen?
Edgelord Guy - Darren Morgan the sword Batman you never met before
Warhammer 40k Salamanders Primarch Vulcan - He’s even got the fiery hammer!
Orc Berserker - He’s an ORC, and he makes thinly veiled jokes about alliance genitals!
Then it’s off to Robot World, Blue Man Group, Sinkypark, Twilight, then finally evil mask place.
Again I’ve stated this is an opinion albeit an unpopular one. People don’t think ARR is bad they think it’s mediocre now if you consider mediocre bad then sure by all means.
Legit if you played ARR till endwalker you would understand why you need to go through ARR. it’s about the journey not the destination. Which is why I liked final fantasy 14 it’s not go go go mentality I could take my time digest and enjoy the story. With WoW it’s not that case and it’s very poor story telling in my opinion. Legit serious question what point did you decide to drop final fantasy 14. Someone who hasn’t played final fantasy 14 story is not knowledgeable enough to comment on the story. ARR is still being referenced in endwalker in the story. Edit: never mind I’ve seen in past you’ve commented on things you are not knowledgeable enough first hand on well im just ignore the responses if I receive any already see where this is headed.
I am playing both. In fact playing FFXIV increased my expectations of what I want out of an MMORPG. There are tons of things I wish both would learn from each other.
To see how polished Warcraft’s combat is, the responsiveness and feel.
To see how much better The Gold Saucer is vs the Darkmoon Faire.
To see how much I prefer the Transmog system vs the Glamour system.
To see how amazing WoW PvP is compared to FFXIV PvP (shoot me, it’s atrocious)
To see the impact dying armor can have on making your character your own.
To see the emotion in my Warrior of Light and and customization options I have to make him unique.
To see how far behind WoW character models are, just look at Eternities End cutscene when NPCs talk, compared to FFXIVs’.
To see how bad emotes and dances are in WoW and how bad the SELFIE Cam is to GPOSE.
I love farming old Relic Weapons that have amazing effects from places like Bonzja. (Mage Tower)
I love farming Palace of the Dead to level and loved the new Torghast that reminds me of it.
I love the uniqueness a race can bring to a Class in WoW but loved how all my Jobs could be on one character in FFXIV. (maybe allow all classes within an armor type on one character)
All in all, these developers need to start stealing from each other, taking the good and sifting out the bad. I don’t care about sub numbers and camps, I care about good game play, good story, rewarding my time appropriately and letting the system be game play orientated.
I actually didn’t like ARR very much until about level 30, then it got pretty good. By the end it was REALLY good. There are SO MANY callbacks to that early story though that it certainly isn’t time wasted. Post MSQ ARR it starts to get amazingly epic, and Heavensward is just an experience in excellence.
You’ll be doing something later on and see that the involved NPCs are actually people you interacted with before. And that if you did so, they remember you too.
WoW used to have a good story, and an Identity. Now it has neither. I think MoP was the last time the story was actually really good. Legion was good, but not great. BFA was… well it was BFA…
Gameplay is ok, there’s a reason I still play WoW on the side along with my FF… But this SL story is just absolutely terrible.
Like, do you remember when the Nathrezim possessed bodies because they were necromantic vampire demons? Now they don’t do that anymore and are shapeshifters. Little things like that are just weird, and there’s so very many of them that the WoW lore and story are just such epic tier trash at this point. That’s a tiny example, but there are SO MANY of them now.
