Honestly, I think people grow out of it, or it just gets old, that’s what happens to me.
I like that the other developer understands that. I can get my weekly stuff done over there in a day and then do other things, or play other games. I have zero need to log in daily.
Other games kind of force you to, like this one. Yeah you can take your time, but you will be miles behind. I started the other game when the expansion launched, played through all the expansions and got “caught up” this week. I like that if I don’t get the drop I wanted I can run again, and again til I get it as well. (just don’t take any gear)
I’m pretty sure that it’s from one of the events that is currently going on. Where they get thrown out there to the community…which happens a lot. It’s like the opposite of what WoW does where they actively push their content creators away. But I mean what would I know? I’m not a sperg who thinks everything is correct since “this one streamer is saying things”.
Regardless, they’re not being paid. That’s a MASSIVE stretch.
And? it just means more players are wanting to play FF14 then watch others play it. There’s no connection between twitch viewership and actual player base. Another big reason is, most don’t wanna be spoiled. So they do the story of FF14 themselves, instead of watch someone do it. Feels more personal since their story isn’t garbage like wow’s latest stories are falling flat on their face.
WoW streamers have also been sponsored, it’s just a way to make money on both ends -a business agreement. And as you know, the latest hype is Elden Ring. And in a few months, the biggest thing for a month or 2 will be WoW’s newest expansion then that will fall off popularity and the cycle repeats.
FF14 also has a huge streamer, ZeplaHQ, but she’s a victim of Ukraine migration so she’s not been streaming as of late because she lost her home and had to flee.
Still comparing apples to oranges, one has existed for 18 years on the sole MMO alone(and longer if counting the RPG series), the other has existed for a few years at most. That’s like saying smart glasses should have picked up and beaten normal glasses now…some things need time to prosper in time and wow has had a much longer time to “lay its roots” persay.
Yeah that’s called the “surgence”, a new game comes out, has hype, they all jump on it, and get more views. It’s a business in itself to keep attracting new “customers”.
