You can say that if you want. I personally think that having my phone number kicked out because it is “not postpaid” is beyond a lie, because all landlines are by definition postpaid.
My landline number was kicked out because it was “not postpaid”. The phone company would be very surprised to hear that.
The article is vague. My guess is that they changed the requirements but felt they did not need to update the article because it gave no details.
Are we talking about creating a Battlenet account or getting an authicator for the account?

I don’t see how they could know if your phone number is landline or cell in Canada. All area codes up here can be used on both.
There is a federal law that says all phone companies must allow everyone to keep their full existing number when moving to a new service / provider. So a huge number of people just moved their landline number (with area code) to a cell phone. In British Columbia before the law it was easy to spot landline numbers because they all started with one of two area codes, but now a huge number of them have been moved over to cell phones.
EDIT:
I just tried making a new account to see what happens, and it accepted my landline number. But then it asked me to do a puzzle to verify I am a real human, but did NOT show any puzzle!
I think there must be something seriously screwed up with their signup pages since they appear to be crapping out in random places for people.

Far as I’m aware it works. I have an authenticator and everything. I’ve had the same number for going on 10 (or was it 15?) years but yeah.
It isn’t prepaid it’s through Tmobile so it’s an actual carrier as far as I’m aware.
