Let’s be real: all these specs performing badly while others dominate? It’s 100% intentional. Blizzard isn’t just “bad at balancing” – they know exactly what they’re doing.
Why? Because we’re all addicted to WoW anyway. Blizzard knows most of us won’t cancel our subs; instead, we’ll either jump to the meta spec or just stay casual for the season. This keeps the meta rotating and gives players a fake sense of “freshness.” On top of that, it forces people to play alts, keeping early-game content alive for those who get caught with an underperforming spec and have to grind for levels and gear.
I think Blizzard’s taking notes from companies like Riot, who constantly shake up the League of Legends meta. The difference is, in League, the meta shifts are more subtle – you don’t see roles that perform 30-50% worse in raw numbers. It’s usually smaller differences in utility or playstyle, not such drastic gaps.
So no, I don’t buy that Blizzard is just bad at balancing. It’s not an “Oops, Rsham’s Link 3m CD is so strong people skip hit kill mechanics in M+ with it, meanwhile Rdruid’s Tranq 3m CD is so useless we’re not even spending a talent points to get it… oopsie doopsie!” Nah, this is all by design. Blizzard wants us switching specs and leveling alts, whether we like it or not.
