It has been long enough

This is one of my (Eilethalua) Classic characters. I’ve posted on him when it’s relevant. Conceivably he, or Zeen, or Travestie, could be used instead. And I do use them occasionally. But they’re “alts” and always will be even if I never log into Lethie again.

30% of his posts are basically just having a projected hatred of retail for having the audacity to exist, or just name calling for anybody who dare enjoy retail / WoW overall. I would honestly just not respond because he is like a pull string doll with 4 different phrases and they are all bagging on retail and saying he wants the subs separated and increased. Apparently even having to think about retail being tied to Classic by the same IP gives him intense heartburn.

Huh ?, please elaborate on this. If anything having both games available to a completely new to WoW player is only going to cause MORE confusion, as the games a VERY different.

Well, i’ll tip my hat to you here firstly, at least you aknowledge the trolling is occuring, unlike some who have posted about this topic previously and now.

The thing is though, it will shut down a portion of it. Make Classic forums the same as Refail forums, requiring a toon to be level’d to a point before players are extended the PRIVILEGE of posting on the relevant forum. Right now the only requirement is a level 10 toon from REFAIL for posting privileges to be extended to both forums.

They will never stop trolling completely, thats why we have forum moderators. Surely that’s not reason enough to do nothing to stem the tide of filth that some seem intent on bringing ? …I actually feel sorry for the moderators having to wade through this mess daily.

i have shaman, priest, hunter above 10 right now and i’m mostly a retail player. this wouldn’t stop anything. i promise you that.

I’m gonna tell you a secret: They don’t. It’s like this because there aren’t really mods actively watching things. If you use the report function and properly explain what the problem is there’s a good chance it’ll get addressed though.

I’ve seen plenty of hapless posters have their stuff moved from here or there, or end up asking the same exact question thats already on the front page 5 times ect. Having one more hoop to jump through doesn’t help anyone who’s attempting to use the forums for the intended purpose, and it doesn’t stop anyone whos mission is make other people miserable.

Even more than that I’m against either side getting a “win” like this because it’ll just be another thing for people to argue over and make threads about for 2 weeks. Low effort would describe a lot of posts in both forums even without trolling and having anything worthwhile get buried under even more crap doesn’t seem worth it.

Are you insinuating you’re trolling ?

Fair conversation and the exchange of different view point’s is fine, that’s not what we are talking about here, be reasonable.

We are talking about the die hard devotee’s to one game or the other, who then go on to the opposing forum JUST to troll. It’s about shutting down the free pass that Blizzard have given to refailers to come to the classic forums and troll.

I’m not askling for a “win” or different privledges to be extended, i’m asking why we don’t have an even playing field.

Why is having a toon at level 10 in Refail the requirement for posting privileges on the Classic forum ?

i am more annoyed at the people who have trolled GD for the past however long about classic related things. it has way more posts in general and it was literally half the posts in the first bit of the page for months. the amount of retail people that come here to troll vs the classic people who’ve trolled GD is non existent. and for a while they would trash retail without even being subbed due to a forum error. i understand why you’re upset but that wouldn’t fix it. people who want to troll will still troll even if they have to spend a few hours leveling.

So because it’s happened, we should all just accept it continuing ??

really…Why is having a toon at level 10 in Refail the requirement for posting privileges on the Classic forum ?

how do you decide on level though? what if you had to have a level 120 toon to post on GD at all? would that be okay? not a 60 because GD is for the general game and classic has it’s own general discussion.

Level 10 in retail happens in like 5 minutes. It’s as close to no requirement as you can get. And again, you can see the kind of stuff we get in the retail forums even with that requirement. I understand and to a certain point agree with your problem, but this won’t solve anything.

Because at the time the rule was made, and the forums were brought about, there was only one WOW on which to have an account to post with. I’m willing to bet if a new account with only a Classic toon at level 10 tried to post anywhere on the forum, it would be able to. My Classic characters appeared as forum selections after level ten.

Is it exhausting, acting so outraged over petty garbage all the time?

I can’t be bothered to switch characters, sorry.

I learn something every day!

Now if you could help me remove the ones in game :]

People should be paid subscribers to WoW to post here at all which I don’t think was required before Classic was released.

Even though I play both WoW versions, I’m not going to swap to my Classic character every time I post here and have to track forum responses on two different characters. It isn’t worth bothering with just to appease some on this forum.

But I would create a classic toon, change my forum character to that classic toon, post on the classic forums, but go back to playing retail…so how would that still stop me?

Do you not play classic already? If no, then why are you in this forum?

Should be limited to level 15+ classic characters

Just think of posting on a 120 as the Classic equivalent of posting on a level 1 alt.

Will this keep the RETAIL IS DEAD crowd out of general?

Then you guys shouldn’t be able to post on GD with your classic characters. Fair is fair.
