I’d just rather know that the people posting actually play classic. If they have a level 10 classic character that they post on, we will know they are just a troll. Getting to level 60 in classic takes a significant amount of time so not many trolls are going to waste that much time just to troll the classic forums.
Nah. Besides, this is the first character I got to 20 back in vanilla. More classic than your new-fangled “Classic” character.
I’d rather players just stick with one character they post on.
Switching around for different forums/topics just seems like you’re trying to hide something.
If someone wants to believe I don’t play Classic or that I’m a troll because I choose to use the character I always do to post on the forums, that’s their issue, not mine.
What would I be trying to hide? I haven’t played retail seriously since WotLK. lol
If classic didn’t exist, I would be playing ESO or FF XIV.
I post on my Classic character. And really you should look at the character selections on the forums. If you go to change characters to post, you will notice the selection has not been updated in a LONG time. There are still characters on my list I have long since deleted, why are they still there, but all of my classic characters are not listed?
This is a Blizzard website/forum issue, not always the fault of the people posting.
I was using the collective you there, not meaning you personally.
If you always post on a Classic character, great. Good for you.
I always post on this one. I don’t feel the need to switch my posting character to prove I play Classic. If that means some players decide I’m a troll or that I don’t actually play Classic, okay then.
It is worse for the classic community if non-classic players are trolling the classic forums with “suggestions and ideas” probably actually meant to destroy/derail classic or stir up division.
You don’t need to post using a “classic” or “retail” character to do that.
Obviously, but non-classic players are more likely to troll when they can post on a retail main and pretend to be serious classic players.
stereotyping doesn’t really help the discussion. Both sides troll, what game you prefer is not mutually exclusive
It isn’t stereotyping. It is a fact that someone is more likely to troll if they can remain anonymous (especially when they can hide the fact that they don’t even play on classic). I didn’t say all players from retail would do it, that would be stereotyping.
Just because someone posts on a retail character doesn’t mean they are trolling or that their suggestions/ideas are meant to destroy classic/stir up division.
It’s pretty easy to tell which suggestions are serious and which are trolling without looking at the forum avatar used.
Besides, it’s not like players posting on Classic characters don’t also have spectacularly bad ideas at times either. Case in point, a level 47 mage (Classic) posting that all PvE realms should be removed cause that would someone balance the realms.
I was told I was a “Retail” shill who didn’t want Classic and wouldn’t play because I wasn’t a “No-change” zombie.
Your issue isn’t with “Retail” avatars, your issue is with other people having different opinions to yours.
I didn’t say it always means that. You are putting words in my mouth, and by doing so you are committing a logical fallacy.
Wrong. I am perfectly fine with people having different opinions from my own. Your anecdotes are not evidence of anything.
I get called that all the time. I’m still enjoying classic. It really doesn’t matter what toon I post on. Why should it bother me some cheesehead is obsessed with what toon I post with to make anything I say valid.
And you’re putting words in mine by saying I said you said it always means that.
(Man that sentence sucks but it’s the best way I came up with)
If I’m putting words in your mouth and/or committing a logical fallacy, you’re right there with me.
Yes, I want to limit the ideas of trolls that don’t really play classic. Legitimate ideas or differing opinions are fine.
Fine, I guess you didn’t say I said “always”. You seemed to imply it though.
