The buffs you get from the Silver Covenant NPC more than makes up for it. We’re talking about heroic dungeons, not heroic ICC. People need to get off their high horse and stop trying to gatekeep entry level content. The only legitimate reasons for vote kicking someone is if they are AFK or not following mechanics. If you only want pumpers in your group, then make your own.

Sorry, but I am always skeptical of people in full pvp gear expecting to be as effective as someone in pve gear.
PVP is not good for tanking Beta/Gamma. it CAN work but it is much rougher and more healing intensive. PVP gear on dps is less rought but the lack of hit/expertise is going to effect their DPS output negatively.

No one is claiming PVP gear is as effective as PVE, only that it’s good enough for Gamma.

Your title says otherwise. PVP is the big one for getting higher Ilvl.
please note I am not disagreeing, just showing why it isn’t as effective to cheese gear to get higher Ilvl.

Then those people should form their own group in order to insure everyone is geared to their standards. As soon as you queue for RDF, you agree to Blizzard’s standard which is 210ilvl, whether it be from PVE or PVP gear.

If your gs is so vastly below average, shouldn’t you guys be the ones forming your own groups? you guys are the outliers. most people have been playing the game and have at least a few pieces of boe gear by now

I started out gamma in mostly PvP gear and was afraid as hell because of “idiots”. My first run was fast as can be and I was 2nd in DPS on recount (on over all). The other DPS had a few hundred GS more than me. That wasn’t always the case as I have been running them and I’m still replacing PvP gear. Sometimes I’m at the bottom. Regardless, Gamma is easy sauce for DPS. If you’re heals or tank, that is a “no no”.

I just find it hilarious that everyone and their mother talked about how getting pvp gear was an easy way for fresh 80s to get geared up to run alphas and betas, and then now that RDF is out suddenly it’s a cardinal sin

I dont care if someone has PvP gear as long as they know what they are doing. My experience with PvP geared heroes tho is that they are absolute scum when it comes to knowing their class and the dungeons involved.
I dont like freeloaders and loot ninjas.

I’ve been recommending resilience gear to pad up one’s GS since P2.
If they use unethical tactics to meet ilvl requirement as a dps that is fine, but as a core role of tank/heals no. Seen too many people that think they can toss on gear that doesnt tie to their spec and only to meet ilvl and get obliterated in a gamma with 5.8k dpsers wondering wtf. Go hit up the lower requirement on the ICC dungeons for some middle gear before you jump into being carried.
except it’s sometimes not. it can work more often as a dps because you’re being carried by 2 other dps, and you’re role is often unimportant. But what if the other dps can’t carry? what if the person cheesing the ilvl is the tank or healer. It’s a lot harder for them to get carried. what if it’s multiple ppl trying to get carried?
I’ve seen 2 rdf that failed thus far. toc and uk. too many weak links, & I couldn’t carry that many weak links as a dps.

They’re “gatekeeping” because they want to complete routine/recycled content faster. People trying to get a few pieces of BiS with scourgestones don’t want to carry kids so they can gear faster

If you don’t want strangers in RDF judging you on your gear, then make your own group.

Make. Your. Own. Group. Don’t use random group finder and then complain about the results.
Your advice goes both ways. If you aren’t having luck with RDF, make your own group (you can even get overgeared kids to carry if they don’t notice you’re looking for a carry)
