100,800 to be precise (cost of all base items + upgrading to rank 7). That’s absurd. Sure you’ll supplement some pieces with conquest/vault but initial gearing feels absolutely awful.
There should be a buff that increases honor gained on alts, or let honor be account-wide.
Took me 2 days to honor gear my alt.
You either got carried through RBG’s or played 16 hours a day then. 100k honor in two days is fairly unrealistic
EDIT: On this character I’ve played 38 BG’s, of which I’ve won 21. Additionally, played 31 arenas, of which I’ve won 17. I’ve also done 12 (yolo) RBG’s, of which I’ve won 4. If you look at my gear, I still have 6 pieces of non-PvP gear, and 3 of my pieces I do have aren’t 197 yet. How is that okay?
its a hike… gearing is really bad for alts. you get rolled, have to get legos, farm the soul ash, get your soulbinds and conduits, then ontop of that, get all your gear above 200 to even be competitive
Exactly my point. The grind isn’t bad on your first or even your second character. I’m on my 4th alt now though and I’m just sick of it. Spend an entire day of playtime doing covenant campaign, soul ash (thank goodness they unlocked layer 8 account-wide), getting soulbinds, etc etc.
People who have only geared up one toon don’t see it really as an issue, but it’s really bad especially early on when you’re getting farmed by 1800 players in random BG’s
I almost have my second character to 60, and yeah 100k honor is insane. I am planning on doing the covenant campaign first and hope that some of those armor pieces have vers. Then I’ll get an honor weapon and jewels/trinkets and try to upgrade it all.
It needs to be half of that current honor costs IMO.
Just how fast do you think you can obtain a full 200 set with any other method
As one of those that have only one maxed out toon, this is exactly why I’m hesitant to start working on any of my alts. 4 of which still are sitting at 50 lol.
As one of probably thousands of players with limited time to play each week, I prioritize what I do when Im on to stay (somewhat) competitive for the content I enjoy. Im not intimidated by the gearing process or scared of getting rekd by glads as a fresh 60 in bgs. My main falling behind due to how fast paced progression has become makes me hesitant.
I do feel this is more of a me issue than a game issue. If I could hammer out a few hours a day, I wouldnt think twice about a couple alts.
Renown pieces are easier to upgrade and use a different currency. I recently got an alt to 198 fairly quickly. Whatever pieces aren’t renown I have honor pieces in. This drastically lowers the honor grind.
Do you find the renown/honor gear mix enough to have fun in bgs still? Do you go for all the pieces of each type with vers first?
the renown set you can get to 197 too, and it is much easier to do, only like 3 pieces of its aren’t vers/x
??? covenant gives almost a full 197 set and takes significantly less time. Additionally you need to do that regardless. LFR also gives free 187’s, world bosses give 207, WQ’s give 184.

Yes. Ideally, replace any non-vers covenant pieces first (after getting trinket set obviously). Then start replacing pieces that have a lower vers amount.
Yes. I’m at like 20% vers. Your honor rings and neck give a substantial amount of vers for you.

I guess the main thing for me is that it feels bad at both ends of the spectrum. Initially, even with covenant gear, you’re pretty honor starved. Yet when you get your Sinful stuff you sit at 15k honor cap with nothing to really do with it.
Even being able to transfer honor at like a 2:1 ratio (1k honor from main to 500 on alt) or something along those lines would be nice
to full 197? Not possible.
My alt hit 60 on tuesday and is 194 with 23% vers right now with a mix of renown and honor pieces. It works just fine.
Couldnt you do something like that with the adventure table resources in bfa? So you could mail some to alts and such? That’d be great for honor.
Was that in 4-6 hours total or playing close to that a day? Just curious for planning what Im in for with the time I have.
