Got it done on ?? as ~616 Survival hunter, pre-Cyrce’s Circlet. Was an exhausting, and expensive ordeal.
Egg placement… which (in my opinion) is far more troubling on some classes (see warrior) than hunter.
I mean, I’m running around with my achievement title and derigible skin after soloing Zekvir?? as Surivival. So yes it’s doable? Did it before Siren Isle, was around 615-620. It should be much easier with Cyrce’s Ring now tbh.
Some tips I can give is
- Your pet will die. You must be the tank.
- Blizz did something so that Zekvir often despawns if he’s fully MDed to Brann or Brann gets on his threat table alone. Ditto for pets. I’ve only gotten a ‘normal’ MD off once and that seemed a fluke. Zekvir will target Brann by himself on occasion for his abilities, just roll with it.
- the spit is a slow, you can just Disengage to clear it with the talent.
- Interrupt the heal is the priority. Worse come to worse, use a pet with a Mortal Wounds debuff. This becomes less relevant in his 2nd phase, you will need to interrupt.
- I’ve tried both with my Sentinel build and my Pack Leader build. Sentinel is the safest option, you will get a near constant 10% HP shield and have a constant barrage of attacks happening on Zekvir…if he stays still.
- Pack Leader tilts power to your pet and this is beneficial in some ways. When targeting the egg, you can set your pet to kill it and they’ll be able to do it faster solo while you kite Zekvir. However, healing and survivablity is less secure.
IIRC, I defeated Zekvir with my Pack Leader build, but either should be fine.
LOL I meant at the very start, like the expansion and Zekvir’s first available fight. Tuning then was a mess, especially for hunters.
That’s the first thought that came to my head as well but it’s easier solve if you send your pet and move back to the center.
As a BM hunter, I have the same problems as everyone. pet with growl off does so much damage, that it steals the aggro and dies constantly. But guys, could you share a macro for quickly switch to the add please and hopefully putting a marker on it.
One of my biggest problems during this fight is switching targets to the add, I usually use tab but it seems that the target needs to be in front of me and the other problems is that tab sometimes tagets branns egg.
Sometimes tab tagets the add immediatly, but with Zekvir constantly following me I don´t know where it spawned. Sometimes the add is behind me and I cant´t shoot and other times the add is too far away, because I´m constanly kiting Zekvir.
I´m ilvl 622 but I can´t down it beyond 80%, the skin for the dirigible looks so far away and it keeps getting further of my hands
How do you survive as BM? I’m 612 ilvl and I end up half the time getting one shot and I’m eating brann’s healing pots like candy, using HotS, it’s just RNG and I can’t stay alive long enough to actually beat him.
Update, I’ve tried everything humanly possible. I’ve tried all 3 pet types, I’ve tried different enchants / food to increase my health, etc. Nothing matters, I have a weak aura that gives an airhorn when I go below 30% health. This entire fight is the airhorn going off until I finally get crit back to back and die (I only have 5.4k HP).
I play SV and BM about equal amounts, so my plan is to try SV for ??, though I did ? on BM. On ?, a Clefthoof can generally stay alive. In the 25 or so attempts it took me, I had to do some rezzes, but my Clefthoof could generally tank him. I hear that’s not at all the case on ??.
On SV, you have Harpoon to get you to the egg, which is better than some classes have.
I ran Brann as a healer with
- Light-Touched Idol (When any player uses a defensive ability with a cooldown of 30 sec or longer, the idol activates and heals them for 4% of their maximum health every 1 sec for 10 sec.) That gives you additional on-demand healing on Exhilaration, Survival of the Fittest x 2, Fortitude of the Bear (if you’re using tenacity, I didn’t but I may for ??) and Aspect of the Turtle. Five decent heals (although I avoided Aspect of the Turtle) right when you need them can save your butt. I’m already talented so that Survival of the Fittest has an extra charge, and for Den Recovery in the Pack Leader tree.
- Relic of Sentience (When Dwarven Medicine is consumed, there is a chance for Brann to throw an additional potion – and the chance appears to be very high). Extra healing potions is great.
Since you’re not expecting your pet to tank, it might also be reasonable to use a Cunning Pet, which gives you Master’s Call as a back up in case you had to use Disengage for some reason. and it’s not available to remove the snare.
If you are 612 you should be able to face tank it. I used ferocity pet for hero. I don’t know your gear but 5.4k hp for 612 is a bit low. I’m 634 and have over 7, I remember having at least 6 when I was your ilvl.
Did you use one pot at a time or all? The only airhorn you should worry about is the spit and shield interrupt, everything else is ‘dont step in fire’ strat. I remember his melee hits hard but shouldn’t be enough to one shot you, especially with your ilvl. What is killing you and what phase?
I’m dying in P1 when Zekvir randomly crits me two times in a row for 3.4k each. Doesn’t always happen, but it has happened several times. As for my HP, looking at other BM hunters in the 612 ilvl range, they also are in 5.4k HP unbuffed range like me. I was also watching other videos and in a lot of them the boss isn’t in their face constantly smacking them, yet when I do it, unless he’s casting something, he’s in my face beating me down (and every strat says to stay in his face, easier to move out of stuff). I even saw some where Brann is tanking him. I’m just going to get more gear, not sure what else to do.
Zekvir ? should be doable by 580 ilevel, it’s a pretty straightforward fight.
Zekvir ??, on the other hand, is brutal. Being hit for 2 million, crit for 3 is brutal.
Ya sorry this boss is not made with pet classes in mind, especially when it forces bm hunters to throw their entire play style out the window.
When I did it, I used ferocity and hero to get rid of phase 1 as fast as I can. I find phase 2 way easier than phase 1. It’s a lot more hectic but you have more time to dps between sets. So when it comes to phase 1, I’d probably use my defensives then. If push comes to shove, force your pet to taunt. I think once I md Brahn before I feign just to take some heat off myself. Hero on the first phase then if you make it to phase 2, switch to defensive pet during the intermission so you at least have one more defensive. You still have 2 pots of your own.
This boss is clearly made with melee in mind so other than ‘practice makes perfect’, I don’t think there’s much to do. Even if you get more gears you still have to deal with the bs.
But you can’t MD to Brann (that’s an invalid target). I actually find Phase 1 much easier than Phase 2 (but I’ve also seen it a LOT more). And I play BM because I have a pet, stupid Blizzard couldn’t come up with a better way to handle this than “BM is now a melee hunter”
That didn’t sound right, so I just hopped into a delve and MD’ed to Brann. It works fine.
Weird, mine pops up a red message saying “invalid target”
Are you using a macro? Maybe your macro isn’t picking the target right. I did it and then verified that the Misdirection buff was on Brann.
Yes using macro that is created by an addon.
Sounds like macro debugging time.
Here’s my MD macro. It could be slightly less wordy, because it’s very old, but it works fine:
#showtooltip Misdirection
/use [target=target,help,nodead] Misdirection
/use [target=focus,help,nodead] Misdirection
/use [target=pet] Misdirection
First attempts to MD to a helpful, living target
Then attempts to MD to helpful, living focus
Finally MDs to pet.
Yeah, I’m using the MDH (MisDirectionHelper2 addon - https ://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/misdirectionhelper ) and have been for a LONG time. I target Brann and click on it to set him as a target, but as I said, when I click MD it won’t work. I’m guessing I would have to actually target him and click Misdirect by it’s self for it to work?
Or, with my macro, set him as your focus. I do that generally in dungeons and raids – set the tank as my focus.
