Seriously it seems impossible my pet gets instakilled and once the Zekvir is agrod to me I die in 2-3 melee attacks.
One of the easier classes to do it on honestly.
Pets cant tank. Theyre insta killed. You gotta take the hits. So growl off.
And as stand next to the potions as soon as theyre thrown out, as soon as you start taking melee damage, run over all 3 potions.
Rinse and repeat
Yes, I did it at like 615 or something. Some stuff helps - having Mad Queens Mandate will SIGNIFICANTLY reduce the difficulty as it can basically one shot eggs and its cooldown is halved when you kill with it. Its mostly doing the mechanics.
The way I did it as MM was pet with growl off, use a tenacity pet for the extra heal and HP then during the intermission when he switches phases I dismiss summon a ferocity pet, dismiss, hit lust at the last second then immediately resummon my tenacity pet.
I also did it with a ~L35 Brann as healer spec, Amorphous Relic and Porecelain Arrowhead.
Doing it on ? is a cake walk honestly, doing it on ?? only became easier the more gear you have, once you get to 620’s its just about your rotation. Its more annoying on BM since your pets do so much damage they can get aggro’d and one shot but on SV and MM it shouldn’t be too bad. You need to make sure you are positioning the boss well and walking through the potions brann drops, they not only heal you but also give you a stacking heal over time that can negate a lot of his damage. From there its just rotation a minding mechanics.
Yes, I just did ?? With my hunter in BM spec at ilvl 615
?? very doable as BM/PL with taunt off. Just need to interrupt properly and kill spawn.
This was a helpful response. Thank you for sharing!
Wait, am i suppose to do solo content without my pet tanking it for me ?
Zekvir is tuned differently for each class and spec around their abilities. For Hunters the damage against pets is tuned up massively, the damage against us is tuned down.
Things like the heal you interrupt and the poison with the slow are on different timers for different classes like priests who can only interrupt once every 45s vs our 24s.
It’s designed as a kite fight for Hunters.
Single ? ekvir CAN be tank and spanked with a pet and it completely nullifies the entire fight and removes all the challenge which is why they’ve done this.
They can only get away with this because it’s an instanced dungeon.
My Clefthoof tanked ? just fine, but I’ve heard that doesn’t work for ?? (waiting a bit more to try that. My plan is to go SV and facetank if Clefthooves get stomped like I’ve heard).
Had near 100% uptime on mend pet and getting extra healing from Kill Command and Stomp damage and Brann’s potions, etc.
I used BM. Turn off Growl and Misdirect to Bram. Res your pet if it dies (keybind it). Macro interrupt to target Zek’vir (add a weakaura to alert you when he’s casting his dot). Disengage out of the debuff if Bram doesn’t dispell you. Macro your Kill Command to target the egg first. Stay out of stuff.
Took me about a couple 4 hours sessions, but one-shot it on the last day.
Zekvir, much like the Mage Tower, is a skill and mechanics check.
We get accustomed to sending in the pet, standing back, maybe dodging the circle on the ground, etc.
Check out some videos, spend a little gold on repairs, and just practice the encounter. If you ever played any old school Nintendo games, you’ll understand that sometimes you gotta win by an incremental 3% improvement each time you try.
I use DBM. What I find the hardest -besides the pet taunting thing- is that the tension I get in-between dude’s major abilities. Like I remember messing up the poison and interrupt because the tension between my shoulders were so high. I find turning off the audio and focusing on the in-game boss ability countdown helped.
I do find the boss mechanics aren’t designed with pet class in mind. Yes, make things hard but the design needs to be there in the first place. Class identity and cookie-cutter designs (imo) cannot exist within the game mode. The problem I have noticed is that bm hunters have to worry a lot more than other classes because Zekvir is not designed with them in mind. Things like pet taunts, pet survivability and having the longest interrupt cd etc.
Deep breaths. Calm down. Once you have the aggro and get used to the time intervals between his two major abilities, and be aware of the pots he throws out, things will be easier. The only thing I hope the devs will take notice is the insane amount of repair bill people will occur from challenge like this. Maybe make transmog cheaper/free while they’re at it.
As others have said turn growl off, set Brann to healer, save interrupt for the heal and use disengage to remove the poison dot when he casts it.
With all of his abilities as long as you aren’t interrupting his heal immediately and towards the tail end of the cast you have enough time for your interrupt to come off cd to stop it. Unlike other classes we don’t need to interrupt his poison cast because we can dispel it with disengage.
The longest interrupt was a dig at the class but was a problem at the start that it barely matches the timing of the interrupt. Pet survivability was horrendous at the start also and still is to a large extent, something that shows Zekvir was not designed with bms in mind.
This is true - even with growl off and Misdirecting to Brann. I found that it helped to wait a few seconds before sending my pet in. Still, I would have to rez my pet 1 out of 10 times.
Yeah, you would have to have your pet regularly, playdead to make sure they are dropping aggro
Yea it is you just need to be good at the spec and have patience as well hoping RNG won’t kill you.
I did ? Zekvir but for the ?? Zekvir I have no patience at all. I hate any encounters where I can use my 3 min CD’s more then once, not to mention twice.
To long, to boring, and all that work can be wiped with one bad RNG
Which part of that fight is RNG ?
