We should send that exec back to school. Teach them that computer technology has changed over the years and you can put a greater number of players on the same realm.
thinks back
As I recall, the marketing and IT departments didn’t excatly have a lot of overlap in their playstyles.
The whole point of 5 max AOE is to slow down bots. Unless reported they mimic key punches which makes them impossible to detect. Now that they can jsut mass aoe things. Bots will have a harder time as well as multiboxers
BWL is also about on par with LFR in terms of difficulty, and is the ONLY PvE method of gaining better gear.
Per WCL 96% of guilds with 1 boss kill ended up clearing 8/8.
This expansion has been the most boring and lackluster expansion I’ve ever played.
And when that feeling hit me, Classic dropped. My opinion of Retail at the time was bad, it felt like a lazy rehash of Legion the devs rushed. OP, you have done everything BfA has to offer, perhaps a roll in Classic would be entertainment for you until Shadowlands.
Classic was a good distraction, experiencing the way the game was with all the knowledge of how to play the game. It’s much slower paced, and if you try and face roll too much, you die. Everything takes time and friends to get it done. The raids are kinda boring though.
I came back to Retail about two weeks ago to get ready for Shadowlands. On my hunter that wasn’t my main. I have gotten my cloak and upgraded to rank 3. My neck went from 52 to 84 really fast. The play is very fast paced and the last raid is interesting. Open world content is easily done and damn I missed all my mounts and toys, and flying. It’s good to be back.
They both have appealing aspects. I hope Shadowlands doesn’t disappoint, the max level squish sounds good, but the old talent trees would be better. I can hope…
I don’t like feeling like “a champion”
thats only your opinion, and personally if you wanna be a nobody after saving the universe fine thats your problem mr. masochist but dont try to arrest me down with you on that.

I play Classic as well. I can’t post on my druid for some reason but I have three 60’s on classic. I have a feral druid, rogue and mage.
Im not going into this again, even when using stupid math to prop up retail numbers they are not even close to classic numbers, you take what you want from it.
If you think you cant make a educated guess when the disparity is around 600k players while being very generous to retail at the same time
As usual, your conclusions are nothing by delusions of grandeur.
Well it’s good to know people didn’t play Vanilla for the gear hamster wheel
What’s the core audience OP? You never talked about who the core audience is in your post.
Classic is by far a better game the only problem with it is how hard it is to get gold and how much of a time investment it is to be able to afford things, on the flip side getting gold on retail is stupid easy and thus inflating how much things cost as normal gold sinks.
When tokens first came out they cost between 17-20k gold and now are in excess of 120k gold. They’ve made getting gold too easy to the point where gold has been extremely devalued for the average player. For example I’m not spending a 100k or more on a mount when the they used to be so much cheaper. It feels like the average player was thrown under the bus to sell ridiculous amounts of gold to cheaters (you know the people that get banned when you don’t purchase gold through official sanctioned methods) in the past you would be banned for buying gold and now its okay if you purchase it from blizzard as long as they can inflate or deflate the purchasing power.
I hope there’s a gold crunch soon so I can afford to buy mounts again, I will not pay a tokens worth of gold to buy a mount, I used to be a collector but now it doesn’t even feel fun to collect them with how much it costs just to collect mounts.
I liked it better when I was an adventurer.
This “champion” stuff is lame.
WoW’s core audience needs to be and should be those who grew up with the Warcraft Franchise. That is the loyal base. That should be the so called bread and butter. Without that base, you have nothing. Keeping and maintaining that player base is crucial to the games survival. That base grew up yes, but they have off spring now, I’m sure that they would have taught their kids about the game that they enjoyed or still enjoy. That is the base they need to keep for long term sustainability. But all the boneheaded things that have happened throughout these last few expansions has most likely driven away a lot of those players away. As much as people hate YouTube content creators, they have been part of that loyal Warcraft base that grew up with the RTS and WoW. You drive those people away, then you don’t have anyone to recommend the game. Then your subs start to plateau and/or crash. They need to start to focus on that player base and stop trying to cater to an audience that doesn’t exist and will never exist, otherwise it’s ribbon wraps.
Yes blizz pleasing only some noobs that start wow in legion
At least legion had the mage tower. Not to mention all the other unique appearances for each spec in the game. I’m sure blizzard knew with all the content they made for legion that they would be far behind in BFA so they made some ghetto band-aid fixes via azerite traits, essence grinds and AP grinds along with yet more grinds in 8.3 to trick players into thinking there was content in this expansion, despite there being VERY little content to do.
They did have A LOT of gold sinks in this expansion but sadly that’s not content.
Blizzard’s core audience has been playing for 16 years. We’ll probably keep playing until they shut down the servers for good.
We’ll probably keep playing until they shut down the servers for good.
Do you think a lot of the players feel like they’ve invested too much money and time into the game to abandon it?
Yep, they got your/my money. After that, they don’t care (that much). But it’s $15. No biggie.
Could be worse. Like the colleges and universities that opened for the fall semester even while the pandemic is still raging in the U.S. They made sure to collect that sweet tuition and room/board money upfront ! Now they are sending the kiddies home after one week in session. lol
I don’t like feeling like “a champion”
You could always play a Death Knight roam be hated by everyone and seen as a monster by every being on the cosmological spectrum.
The benefits to being a Death Knight, you’re a Cannon fodder with no primary purpose what so ever, any actions to finding a purpose would be rendered futile.
You also live in perpetual Jealousy of Human and Draenei Paladins, Padaren Monks, Night Elf Druids, Void Elf Spriests, and Tauren Shamens as well as other numerous class combinations iconic to their race for they have something you do not…
And that is...
A Purpose!
To make it short and simple, if you possess the correct amount of Intelligence, play a Death Knight, it is gaurenteed you will see passed all the manipulation of mindless brittle husks and begin to feel like Horse Vomit instead of a typical Champion unless one considered being Champion of the Dirt a worthy title.
