I realized that most people I play with are 30+. I thought it was just my group but then I talked to another guild and they told me the same thing. Where are the teenagers? Is World of Warcraft a game for old people now? Why is it not appealing to the younger audiences?
30+ is an old fart???
It’s 16 years old, did you want us to stop playing at a certain age?
-cries in old fart- I guess so T___T
You and me both.
You’d never guess from the behavior of the playerbase.
The game is old, it’s target audience aged with it.
It’s like wondering why teenagers don’t like the music we grew up with. It just doesn’t have the same emotional connection
21 here🤷♂️
This game definitely has it’s fair share of old farts, but people of all ages play. Real life age doesn’t come up often in game for me.
Uh…
Well, I guess this game does skew towards an older crowd because it’s been around for a long time.
But, personally, I’m glad of that because it’s one of the few gaming spaces where I don’t feel like an old fart because people are around my age. A bunch of other games I end up playing with people who are young enough to be my own children.
Uh, didn’t know that qualifies someone as an old fart. Yikes.
Yes it is. We go to dinner parties and talk about our mortgages and school zoning rules.
True. But, I think that’s more of a middle aged fart. I don’t think we really qualify as old fart material until our dinner conversations revolve around hip replacements.
Woohoo! By this criteria I’m 68 and still only middle aged methane.
Sigh. I was over 30 in November 2004.
There better be vat grown organ replacements by the time I’m that age.
Agreed. I’m like, “come on, science…we’re running out of time here, hurry the eff up.”
Teenagers all start in fortnight, a MOBA which is waning in popularity, or some FPS game.
MMORPGS no longer hold the title of only option for a decent online game.
Also its not a hot genre, its stale, with the only popular games all being over 5 years old, or in wows case…
Then we have the game experience for a new player. Youll enter BFA from training island and not know who any of these characters are, or why you should care, all with a metered and managed game experience.
I dont think i would be a mmorpg player if i had started gaming after 2010. Id probably look at these games like i look at ultima online of everquest. Like i get it but no thanks it looks like a hot mess, it looks gross, and there are waaay more fun options out there.
Wow should really start caring about its core mmorpg fanbase thats been mad for the last 3-5 expansions, new blood wont save them.
I wonder if RPGs in general are fading away because it’s a genre that requires patience and building your character over a long period of time, while younger generations usually want things fast and now, immediate gratification.
When your player base gets older than the games current developers, a communication gap appears.
