It is a MMP, so other people having better gear earned in an easy cheating way does affect you. It reduces your chance of getting a slot in raids for one thing. A raid leader faced with a choice of a player in full BIS gear and one in greens is going to take the cheater.
The majority of the week 2 MC clears were done by people rocking full greens with a few blues mixed in. That was the whole premise of the outrage regarding end-game difficulty. If they were actually purple geared when they did it, that wouldn’t have been the same issue.
Don’t worry y’all! If everyone that says they’re fed up with this or that actually does quit, layering will be gone before the end of P1. Not because they removed it, but because a 2nd layer won’t need to open up!
I never thought they should even try. Either fix the main game or end it and start a new one. Doing a living museum is nearly always a buggy mess which doesn’t come close to simulating the old experience. It’s just a cash grab and a way to keep people engaged until they come up with something else.
For the first phase, everyone but top guilds are going to be grateful to have warm bodies and not care at all about their gear. It’s tough to get 40 people.
I think a lot of people are overlooking what you might call ‘played hours’ on a server. That is the sum of all toon’s /played on the realm. With the pop increases/layers/etc. utilizing a single economy even lower drop rate items are more likely to be found. There are many more instances being spawned and completed per hour and many more mobs dying per hour than on vanilla realms. For servers with longer queue times this extends into the late hours as well.
This is what worried me about people’s fear of ‘empty realms’ and desiring larger caps. You cannot simply increase the labor pool without devaluing the work.
Not like it does now. So many people didn’t know what thottbot was until a year out down the road. Wowhead didn’t go into beta until 2006. Youtube was still in the early years and most people didn’t have broadband internet, or dual monitors.
Yes because everyone now reads pserver bis guides and what not. No most people knew of thottbot you know why because anytime anyone asked a question you were told to thottbot it.
Dungeon BIS is never hard to get, haven’t done the grind in Classic yet but in most retail expansions i was usually full pre-raid bis in like a week. Dungeons are spammable and dungeon bosses only have 4-5 loot in their table. Kind of easy to do.
