Is This Cheating?

Lately, I’ve seen a lot of macros replicas running around farming certain areas. They kill everything with one shot as soon as it spawns, so no other players even get the chance to kill anything, which really sucks if you need to for a quest. Is this considered cheating?

If it’s a macro that was created in-game, it isn’t cheating.

It depends on what they are doing.

/tar mobname
/use skill

Is fine. If it can be built with the in-game macro maker you can do it.

Macros that automate skill rotations are not. Those take outside software beyond what the game can do.

If you think someone is botting to farm a specific item/mob like the druid skinning bots, right click them and report them for Cheating. Let Blizzard sort it out.

Include the realm, zone, location coordinates, and a quick description of what they are doing.

EDIT

If you need to report multiples- you can type out the first report then CTRL C to copy. Right click the next botter and PASTE into the report box. That makes reporting mutiple bots in one location faster.

For example 4 moonkins in the same spot casting the same sequence over and over and skinning for at least 30 mins…yeah. Report. I did get a thank you letter in my game mail from Blizz verifying it was actionable.

Ok, just to make sure I understand this, if they have multiple replica toons running around killing and looting (regular loot), for hours, that’s OK, but if they’re running around skinning, it’s not OK because skinning is a skill?

Err, not necessarily. Doesn’t matter if they’re skinning or not.

If they’re running automation or broadcast software, that’s against the rules.

If you have your suspicion, report them. If they’re not breaking the rules, nothing will come of it. You won’t be in trouble for reporting.

No. You did not understand what I said.

The simple act of targeting something and killing it, is fine - alone.

Botting or automation is not. I gave an example of a common bot to help you understand what bots look like.

ANY automation, no matter the activity, is not ok.
