I personally like doing other things in game while the people who want to create raids do that. There are 2 options in the new tool…create a new raid group or ask to join an existing group. There is no list any longer that people forming raids can see. To me this is a HUGE time waster in the game and really is making me want to not waste my time constantly looking in a window. I personally like doing other things, like gather or work on the AH, or quest while i wait for a raid to form…not just sit there staring at a window and hoping what is listed is what i or whoever is forming the raid wants. This is a MAJOR downfal in the tool design and a game ender for me because without end game content there is no reason to play…and without the ability to do other things uninterrupted , except for an offer to join a raid group it waste my game time i pay for. I am really disappointed in a feature i was really exited for. Chalk up another design fail.
I don’t remember this being a thing, unless it was an addon?
If you have feedback to add this option, I’d suggest the in game suggestion tool or General Discussion forum.
Edit: sorry, I didn’t realize it was a Classic thing and that you already moved the thread.
This is how it worked in classic before the new tool…you selected a raid you were looking for and it listed your name. I does not do that now.
They scrapped the LFG tool. People have been asking for the RDF tool and that’s what we got. The new tool also allows cross realm and the invite system is more similar to retail where you can ask to join multiple parties at once and group leaders can see all interested players instead of one at a time.
tldr: New tool is new.
but that is all it is…a random dungeon finder…not the raid part missing…and the fact i am not looking for random…just the ability like before to list as a player i am available so i can go on doing other things while i wait. A lot of people do not want to create their own raids. Plus i do not want the hassle of constantly refreshing a window in hopes something will appear. I is VERY inconvienient for but the people trying to fill and the people looking and wanting to play the game at the same time.
It is a HUGE time waster unless you are running dungeons.
The answer to your question is you can’t do what you want. It’s a new tool, and that new tool doesn’t have that option.
My best guess is because of the cross realm stuff, listing yourself makes a new party, and because of that, you are the party leader of the new cross realm party.
Scrapping the previous LFG was a mistake. The implementation of RDF did not need to scrap the LFG tool functions, especially for the purpose of searching/filling raids. Let those who want RDF enjoy RDF, but give us back the Group Finder for those that want curated rosters.
i don’t think it does cross realm raid parties. It only lets you create one or browse for one. Massive shortfall.
Agreed 100 percent…this isolated a huge part of the player base from raiding on our own realm.
I’m looking at the Raids section right now and see a group leader from Benediction whilst I’m on Pagle. I would assume you can cross-realm raid.
i do not want to have to constantly refresh the window,i want to play the game…not being on a pvp server i wouldn’t want to be in a pvp raid group. Therefore i am forced to continously refresh the window until i see what i want. Whereas someone crating a group can look at a list to fill it,
While I’m ok with cross-realm being available, the foundation of WoW classic versus retail was playing with your immediate community rather than randos from other servers. Seems out of touch to force that down our throats this far into Classic.
Add a note that says you are looking for an invite, not to lead a group? Group leaders can inspect other LFG entries, so maybe they can find you that way. I dunno man, wasn’t me.
I was against RDF and I’m against the wow token. They are both here. Can’t do anything about it except cancel your sub, tbh.
If it had been properly implemented i didn’t mind it…but they added a tool that really only works for dungeons…which after ppl foll the holes in their gear will kill the popularity of the tool. With this shortfall and adding MoP elements, it is going too far. I am one of the guild’s top raisers and i just announced because of this i am taking what is an extended or possible permanant break. Starfield looks interesting and from what i hear the changes made to fallout76 and made that game enjoyable. The constant development shortfalls in this classic expansion are just too much to bear and doesn’t give me persoanlly anything to look forward to.
Oh, did Classic get the Retail Group Finder?
It’s close to it, not exactly. But more or less it has cross realm, you as an individual can sign up to multiple groups, and you as a party leader can see everyone asking to join with class and ilevel.
I just wish the options weren’t so stark. Group Finder wasn’t broken, there was no reason to fix/eliminate. Surely a healthy medium can be achieved by giving everyone what they want.
The casuals don’t want to be forced to play at the level of the try hards, why should the try hards be forced to play at the casuals’ level? It sounds like everyone involved wants to play with players of the their same skill level.
Yeah, this doesn’t make sense to me and I don’t know why more people haven’t asked about it. Before the patch we could list ourselves as being interested in running certain raids so raid leaders can see a list of available people to choose from. Why did they remove that?
We now have a worse experience starting raids and finding replacements.
