Paladins aren’t infused with the Light. They’re basically priest who took extra training. But both Paladins and Priest use the light the same way.
WoW creation mythos is pretty much as basic as you can get. It’s also written “from the titan’s perspective” so it’s retconnable at any time… because reasons.
So here is the actual creation myth.
In the beginning there was no stuff… And consumerism was sad.
*Then there was light and shadow powers. And they did grown up things, and then there was a boom… and then there was stuff. Why? That’s a good question… but ‘because reasons’ is the best I’ve got for you. *
*All the stuff was bad and did combat with each other because it’s not world of peacecraft and writing “everything was fine” is boring. *
Then there were planet eggs with weirdly human looking giant dudes in them. Why? ‘because reasons’
And the giant egg dudes had the same diversity as Blizzard: 1 lady to every 6 guys… meaning it was actually more diverse than Blizzard… but we’re not going to belabor the point… there’s a new diversity tool for this.
So the 1 lady immediately started dating the timelord, because she was a doctor who fan and because of COURSE the one girl would immediately start dating the leader, because of the ancient cosmic power of tropes and lazy writing, and the rest of the guys started thinking “There must be more ladies out there somewhere… we don’t want to die virgins.” (and since there was only one titan lady and she is dating aman’thul… they almost certainly are, BTW)
*So they all split up to find egg dudes… because if they find 5 more of them and they are all egg dude ladies blizzard can meet it’s diversity goals *
Meanwhile one of the egg dudes named Sargeras fought demons and cut a planet in half with a magic sword and another guy named Aggramar was all “Nooooo don’t blow up planets! That one had a 50/50 shot of having a lady in it you fool!” and then Sargeras’ sword got split in half, and then Aggramar took half of it and Sargeras took half of it… and then the writers forgot this happened.
Then Warcraft started happening because they finally found a planet that was an egg dude lady.
Then all the egg dudes died except the lady and Sargeras.
Then more World of Warcraft happened.
Then all the egg dudes un-died, because reasons, and Sargeras got really big and put a sword in the egg dude lady (symbolism), then really tiny and there’s an edgelord purple man watching him now until sub levels drop to critical levels.
Then Shadowlands happened and ruined everything, and also dragons now.
The end.
Hmmm, sorry, but this is not entirely true. I’m just going to copy-paste a post to better explain this:
There is little evidence to suggest that a Void Elf Demon Hunter would not be possible.
The only example those that disagree with this suggestion bring up is the raid boss Xhul’horac from HFC during WoD. He was a Void entity that was infused with Fel, and after absorbing too much began violent erupting. This isn’t speculation either, as it is specifically described in his journal entry that he is being filled with “overwhelming fel energy”. Anything, however, filled with an overwhelming amount of any cosmic force would result in violent eruptions. Thus, it has nothing to do with specifically the combination of Fel and Void occuring. The logical conclusion to this is that the combination of the two is completely fine, but once there becomes too much then there are problems.
These next two examples seem to get overlooked.
First we have Shadow-Lord Iskar, from the same raid. He was an Arakkoa cursed by the Void energies of Sethe. All cursed Arakkoa are, in a way, similar to Void Elves. Iskar eventually struck a deal with Gul’dan to be infused with Fel to return to his original form and granted the ability to fly once again. This is another example of Void and Fel being combined, and no where in his encounter does it imply he is experiencing and negative side effects. There are even constructs and abilities used during the fight that imply magic that is combining Fel and Void into singular attacks (Shadowfel).
Last, we move to the Felhounds of Sargeras. Both were demons (fel creatures) and one is described as having been infused with void energy. This is one of the clearest examples of fel and void mixing, and resulting in zero problematic outcomes. It’s basically Xhul’horac but in reverse.
Therefore, we can conclude that Void Elf Demon Hunters would be entirely possible within the lore. They would obviously not be part of the original group of Void Elves, as they wouldn’t have been capable of being part of the Illidari. Instead, they would be Blood Elf Demon Hunters that decided to join some of the other Blood Elves that are actively leaving the Horde and joining the Void Elves. We know through interviews and in-game NPC activity that High Elves and Blood Elves are joining the ranks of the Void Elves and are undergoing the ritual to become Void infused.
Yes, Void Elves do have to struggle with the whispers of the Void.
Yes, Demon Hunters do have to struggle with the demon within them.
Yes, some Void Elf Demon Hunters would perish during the process.
No, that wouldn’t be enough to decline class access. Many standard Demon Hunters perished as well, but some did survive and that’s what makes them playable.
Quick someone make a void elf paladin healer
Idk, but I want to see some light/void monster space battles. So far I’ve seen a lot of these things manipulating/empowering mortals, but no epic battle between them directly. I want shadowy squid monsters tearing up naruu, and being holy lazered to pieces.
I don’t believe there is concrete evidence to suggest that this is because of an aversion to the fel. Blizzard loves to have people explode when they gather to much energy. Deadmines one of the first dungeons you will encounter has an ogre that uses too much arcane for example and explodes.
The void revenant in question was already pumped full of fel and infused by it before the encounter began and was fine. It was only after it started absorbing a giant amount of energy that it started to destabilize.
I was speaking solely of the cosmic charts and the different perspectives there, not what retcons the devs can do.
It was covered in a video once, back in the day. It’s not really opinion. Which video? I couldn’t even tell you at this point. But it was an interview somewhere at the end of Legion.
Yes, I already posted the Xhul’horac explanation earlier. But Velfs are infused with Void. Infusing again with Fel won’t have good consequences, especially when DHs literally explode from too much Fel as it is, which is in the starter zone lore.
It’s not an “aversion.” It’s literally fact that Void and Fel are both volatile and when put together are too volatile to work together in any long term capacity— especially when DHs explode on their own from too much Fel.
But it seems that they do just fine. Again the void revenant was already infused with fel for the majority of the encounter. Only when a massive amount of energy was absorbed did it begin to destroy itself.
This. Class skins would solve so many issues and open up so many aesthetics for people to use with their characters, without causing any balance issues. Blizzard could just put their art team to work for a few weeks and get an easy win.
They don’t.
And would seriously help with lore and culture for races having more classes. It’s a great way to add more and be lore friendly.
This is incorrect.
Paladins are directly infused with the Light - this is explicit to both the Blood Knights as evidenced by just their base narrative and to Classical Paladins as seen in the story of Tirion and how they tried and failed and ultimately to un-infuse his Holy powers.
They are not just Jock-priests - the first Paladins were mostly Knights who became infused with Holy powers in order to combat the Undead forces of the Horde.
So no, Priests and Paladins absolutely do not use the Light in the same way. Paladin is not just some cheap knock off of the priest anymore than the Demon Hunter is just alternate Warlock.
Yeah, I feel like it’d be the best way to add in all those class/race combos they said they want to move toward. And a ton of them have already been made by fan concepts. Hopefully they’ve been paying attention to the community as much as they claim.
If you can provide a reputable source (aka Blizzard) stating plainly that velf holy priests and/or lightforged draenai are not canon, I’ll change my view and happily stand corrected.
Until then, it’s an opinion that I’ll continue to disagree with.
You can say that all day but here’s an image of the same boss in question a void being bathed in fel that isn’t on the verge of explosion.

We can infer that the problem was due to a massive absorption of energy rather than the fel and void mix just from this.
IDK I’ll go pay a velf to test it
I thought they changed this from “infused with the Light” to anyone who has a strong belief…
Didn’t we hear that also Alleria and Turalyon couldn’t touch eath other without pain? Or am I wrong there? I don’t keep up with books at all.
If so, what a sad marriage if he can’t even… eh… hold her hand.
Some couples like a little pain.
Spoiler alert: where do you think our universe comes from? In some unspecified expansion the Forces of the Void are going to battle the Forces of Light, and the resulting battle will result in not the death of that universe, but a transformation of it, in which it becomes fictional, and a new universe takes its place, starting with a huge explosion- a Big Bang, if you will.
