No offense and I speak as someone who wants to be all Belf everything, There will likely be a lot of race changes the moment it occurs to wear Belfs can be Druids and Shamans vs other races.
Once upon a time. Draenei were a race of creatures we now call broken native to Draenor. Eredar where always evil and corrupted sargeras. Lore is flexible.
I don’t think that word means what you think it means.
At no point did he say “I am not forsaken” he said that he servers the light. That is not inherently contradictory to being forsaken. Even the cult of shadows preaches balance.
The author’s words are canon though.
Or added to it. An addition or side bar. A variant.
A skin would take less time and effort and blizzard is known for one thing above all else.
Different races have different paladin lore. None of that really defined the original TBC blood knights. Except using light. But they also used dark magic to siphon light from a holy being.
So you’re trying to say your opinion of a character means more than the label the author used? Are you that convinced of your own superiority? That you know better than a WoW author?
You don’t have to swear fealty to anyone or anything to be forsaken that’s not what described forsaken.
Void elves aren’t sided with the void. They’re more like demon hunters. Their idealogy isn’t HEY LETS VOID CONSUME EVERYTHING! It’s hey lets use the void to defend against the void. They can have all the same codes of conduct.
What do you think happened to blood elf paladins who became void elves? What happened to them? Oh right, they’re in telegos rift and they’re called rift blades.
Are you playing the same game as me? I’m guessing not because rule of cool always overrides lore and story.
Pretty much this yeah.
Tauren Paladins also aren’t paladins. They’re sunwalkers.
Troll paladins are Prelates.
Plenty of void/shadow magic has been used to heal. Doesn’t seem like an issue to me.
It’s pulling directly from the book lol.
BOOK.
Light and void are so interconnected. Remember naaru become “Darkened” and turn into void and then can be restored and turned back into light.
A blood elf paladin turned into a void elf would likely experience something very similiar to a naaru’s darkening. This IS lore. This IS canon. Light and Void are not opposites merely 2 sides of a single coin.
I didn’t realize warriors had mana.
Very much like a darkened Naaru.
They basically are now with the golden eyes and the light infused sunwell.
You literally know nothing about blood knight lore do you? The blood knights may have the sunwell now but they literally captured and siphoned off a divine being. If you really think ZERO blood knights would be willing to study the void to try and better understand and fight it you are incredibly foolish.
Death isn’t anti light. Also DKs don’t use Mana.
Yeah those are all cool and good things.
I hope not. These were hugely unpopular and it would be incredibly tone deaf to add them.
I think that’s already done. Blood Elves, High Elves, Void elves. They’re all the same now. It’s basically a neutral race with a faction choice like pandaren. That was sealed with the “normal” skin tones being given to void elves. No point resisting it this is clearly the direction they’re going.
I like blood elves. More options, more diversity doesn’t hurt anyone. Doesn’t hate or hurt blood elves for void elf paladins to exist. I play both blood elves and void elves.
This is the path and it will not end.
That’s against human nature. Humans always want more than they have. Humans will pursue it.
So they are not full void because void does not have a “mortal” form.
We agree on something!
They did heavily imply this. So either we get voidadins (unlikely) or regular void elf paladins without any fanfare or explanation. They probably get a cool voidy mount though.
That’s been sort of an issue with allied races in general especially ones super close to the regular ones like Mag’har and DiDwarves.
I support both to be perfectly honest. More customisation all around. I would like San’layn to be it’s own race with it’s own quirks mostly cause they’re vampires so they should have racials that support that… though this is wow racials tend to be lame. Like void elves got one of the worst active racials ever introduced. But hell even a 1% leach might be good for tank classes and in pvp. Maybe an ability like canabalize for the forsaken only it’s usable on living not dead. Stuns you both and you drink their blood (doesn’t work on undead, demons, aberations, mechanics, elementals) and heal for x amount.
Honestly I keep speaking of more diversity for everyone… but I lowkey want lightforged undead to be a one and done with Calia. But ultimately I support more options for everyone. I would prefer it as customisation rather than a whole allied race. All I want is in tact undead for forsaken we know they exist. Alliance did get horde’s most popular model with void elves, horde should get human model with intact undead.
For normal races: shadow priests who became paladins. Or warriors who were taught by shadow priests rather than holy.
For void elves it happened automatically when they were voidified.
Yeah pretty much where I am. Lore kind of went out the window with SL and “Zorvaal was behind it all” and Zorvaal being the most 1 dimensional baddie we’ve ever had. I think even ragnaros had more nuance then Zorvaal lmao.
I don’t remember them ever saying some combos wouldn’t work.
i don’t think void elves should be the only race with void paladin cosmetic. And I don’t think it should be forced on void elves either if someone wants to RP as a high elf paladin using a void elf who gives a crap it’s their game. Racials don’t end up meaning much in the case of multiple cultures using one race option. As in sand trolls should have different racials than darkspear, wildhammer dwarves should have different racials than ironforge. But they don’t. Afaik the playable void elves represent both void elves and the demand for high elves. Pretty sure blizzard said that in an interview.
Blood elves def need more customisation options hands down agree. But aren’t y’all getting a whole new questline on the PTR? The blood elves have hardly been abandoned and get more lore and attention then most other horde races. cough tauren cough
I don’t really feel like a void knight would really bring enough on it’s own as a class. Just like shadow priest didn’t need to be a class completely separate from holy priests.
They could also make a 4th spec for paladins that represent shadow priests becoming paladins but a cosmetic recolor is probably more likely than a new spec. But if they did do a 4th spec then lore wise all void elves would be that 4th spec. EZPZ.
They’re called Rift Blades in Telegos. They are wearing plate armor, have a mana bar and a ID script considers their class paladin.
People have been saying paladins are infused with light for so long and that’s why forsaken can’t be paladins but can be holy priests (that’s canon). But i never found anything that really suggests this. That they are more infused with light than a priest. Priests also often have a “holy aura”.
I don’t know why high elf versus blood elf fans is even a thing. We all want the same thing. More options.
I’m pretty sure a cosmetic option for paladins won’t make them any less viable in game. Cosmetic won’t effect gameplay numbers.
This logic a shadow priest shouldn’t be a priest at all.
Look there is this concept called Blizzard Entertainment™ which is notorious for laziness. In 30 years I doubt we’ll get a void knight. But we could within 5 years get a void knight skin. And no other class works besides paladin. It’s the only mana using plate wearer and makes sense because shadow priests exist.
They said more, not most. The implication was getting rid of class restrictions although likely exceptions being evoker and demon hunter not void elf paladin.
Yeah we CAN use our imagination. But why be forced to do so when we could get what we want for real in game? That’s the whole point of these requests. Why RP as a fake paladin when you can just be one. I do imagine Mel as a rift blade even though they use mana. It’s the closest I can get. And having that headcanon/rp helped me to enjoy warrior more. But it’s not the same as the real thing.
This is blizzard we’re talking about. They already do this literally every single expansion.
Well I think this is a reference to me. And I do wanna go to silvermoon. But I’m mostly content not getting high elves as a seperate race. We already have the customisation. Maybe a barbershop toggle that changes our name from void elf but not a whole new race that’s silly and redundent.
They are the same species. Maybe tainted slightly differently, maybe different factions but they’re the same species. Blood elves and high elves should 100% share hair styles. And even the void elf colors for blood. elves since you can easily dye your hair that way.
Ehhhh? I mean having one race with all the benefits of both races and being either faction could be nice. Then you could be horde void elf. They’re the same species but I don’t think this needs to happen. But in a sense it’s already happened. There are some differences, and different racials but still the same species.
Priest order hall had void without an issue. In any case it’s a non issue because that’s the past and we’re moving into the future.
I do but I also wish to expand it. I want you to be able to have orc paladin as well.
And yet light can turn into void and void can turn into light.
Void elf druid would be neat. Could you imagine the void animal forms!
Blood elf druids already exist. High elves had druids (not shapeshifting ones but still druids as much as worgen had druids) and blood elves in TBC also had druids.
I think all race/class combos are inevitable with the exception of evoker and demon hunter. Though they MAY decide to expand demon hunter to other elf races. A Draenei demon hunter would be cool as well.
There have been shamans using void magic. And does life and shadow really conflict? is there any lore supporting this?
I am an actual void elf fan, as well as high elf and blood elf, and night elf and nightborn. I love them all. I do wish we could be like alleria with a toggle. I had entropic embrace so much. Why do I randomly get purple paint all over me? It’s weird. I would love some more void stuff. I just want a little bit for everyone.
Is this an actual movement? Like wanting or liking high elves doesn’t mean anyone is against blood elves. I guess they might be but not inehrently. I am certainly not.
We should ALL be getting what we want. This is a fact.
I like the lore too. I also like the freedom to play around with fringe possibilities.
Not really? You can share an identity and still have differences in other ways. Like ya know being apart of the horde.
We always want more. All of us. You want me, I want more, they want more.
And I’m offering input on your input to input… oh goodness now my head hurts.
No high elf paladin ORDER by itself. But there were some high elf paladins within the human/dwarf order.
Don’t need any special zones. It’s fine.
Rift blades have mana and are classed as paladins. Wait how have you fought them if they’re in a void elf only zone?
Agreed. We all should get more. I still think night elves who have gotten more than most need body tattoos for the women and face tattoos for the men. I think undead need upright. Worgen need tail options. Vulpera still having OG options. DiD I think have some of the worst options as they didn’t even get the eye color pass most allied races got. Mechagnomes need to be able to select which body parts are mechanized and maybe option to wear clothes over their mech even if it looks weird. I can’t get over the diapers and having to wear a tabard all the time is lame. Regular trolls need an upright stance. Pandaren got almost nothing they could def use some more life. Actual face options please. Maybe Leper gnome options for gnome could have a short questline where they can’t be fully cured but they are made sane again.
This is true I disagree with plenty of you
I haven’t played seriously since 9.0 so I don’t even know who or what my main is. It was a Draenei Monk. (LFD monk when???)
It doesn’t need to be a versus, a fight. We can all get what we want.
Allows us to get new class concepts we couldn’t have in a million years as full fledged classes. Like dark ranger, void knight, death druid, blood mage, etc.
I think I have equal blood elves to void elves. 2 and 2? Unless I am misremembering which I probably am.
Maybe he blocked you?
Because pro high elf isn’t anti blood elf. We can all enjoy the things we want. It’s not one or the other. We can have both.
Pretty sure it’s not a kingdom. No kingdoms names “Forsaken” in the game or in any lore. There is a race called forsaken though. Mostly made up of undead humans and elves killed by arthas in the third war. A few post third war around the cataclysm.
You’ve literally ignored quoted lore.
They’re essentially the same thing. Naaru prove it.
It can be whatever we want it to be.
Do you think you’re Thallia?!?!?! because that’s literally what she did and you ignored it.
You don’t have to pick which community you’re in either. This isn’t same exlcusive fan club that prevents you from joining others. I am in the high elf community, void elf community, AND blood elf community. Also in vulpera and night elf. I do not limit myself to a single community. I would go mad. I don’t do the same in real life either. I’m queer, I’m disabled, I’m autistic. I could not simply choose one of those to represent because I am all of them. And they are not at war with each other.
Idk about the biggest but one of the biggest for sure.
Void is inverted light, light is inverted void. This is canon.
Some folks are so utterly convinced what they have in their head is correct they’ll ignore ALL sources contradicting themselves. It’s the same mindset that lead people to believe the planet is flat. And anyone with the mindset could fall victim to that and other beliefs which are easily disproven but they begin to reject all facts and logic. It’s highly concerning.
What does this mean? There are bad apples in every community. What do you mean “undesirables” mean/rude people? Because in this “great debate” between high elf and blood elf fans that doesn’t even need to exist I have seen viciousness on all sides. Blood elf fans are victims. Neither are high elf fans. We all just want what we want in a game we love (enjoy? I’d hope).
Same.
Pretty sure all thornspeakers that use drusk magic (which is dead druidic magic) are indeed using death magic. Their very forms suggest this. It’s the same wickerforms modeled after the drust.
High elves are blood elves are high elves. I agree with this. But I do believe folks who want to play them on alliance should be able to. In fact I believe all races should be able to be on either faction and with the faction walls dwindling this may be a mere matter of time.
That would be super rad. Like ethereal energy glinning skin tones.
Draenei Warlocks make sense without breaking lore. Warlocks are rejects and outcasts of almost every society and culture even orcish. Undead and maybe gnomes are the only races that “embrace” it. I guess gnomes are probably more neutral and goblins too.
Just like light and void was already established in TBC with the naaru.
I would cry tears of happiness to have this… nng… bliz please.
Except it’s canon that light and void are the same as life and death in this matter since before they said that about life and death.
Lore can and should evolve. Not stay stagnent for the sake of nostalgia. If you want stagnent lore classic exists. Back when Draenei were broken and Eredar corrupted sargeras. Tauren couldn’t be paladins.
This is a good thing for blizzard. I’ve always wanted blood elf druid with a (updated) lynx cat form. Idk how their bear form would work and a (updated) dragonhawk flight form. Would be so cool.
blizzard is dedicating all their resources to a race that can play one class, giving it things many people have asked for for other races. What makes you think they plan to put any further effort into the races we have any time in the near future?
I’m never going to be one to list names of people that I find as undesirables because I’m pretty sure they know who they are due to the fact that I and most others block and ignore them repeatedly and that’s regardless of how many times they faction change, race change, name change, server change, character change, etc.
See, that’s fine you think like that, I disagree with you but I’m not going to argue about it either.
They having stated new class/race combos are coming, and seemed open to bringing even more into the game in that dragonflight interview when pressed re: nelf pallies. Given they can stick-handle them in properly lore-wise according to the dev. Believe it was Brian H.
Like what? Genuinely curious - haven’t looked into this.
Or even change characters mid argument to circumvent a block the anti BE sentiments from some people do show up, not everyone is anti BE but many are.
Also the request in and of itself is a detriment to BEs in several ways whether they acknowledge it as such or not but it always has been looks to see how many people argue for Quel’thalas or just even in general people trying to ride the coat tails of BE story Bcz Blizz never considered the 6 elves standing around Alliance side a quantifiable presence enough to have their own story.
Oh in that case it’s an easy answer it’s the types of people that I personally find undesirable, the kinds that can’t be civil or have a civilized conversation without resorting to personal attacks, name calling, etc.
Alliance having High Elves like High Elves like Horde does, I personally used to like my Void Elf a lot more before they got more and more normal options because she different from my Blood Elf, I enjoyed it so much she was my Alliance main for awhile but the whole normal thing is just like having a copy of this character on Alliance which I didn’t need or want since I have always had this one.
Ombre hair, ear jewelry, jewelry for the men too, markings when a lot of races didn’t get tattoos they asked for (or the tattoos were gender locked), dreads/braids, and more. I know belves have asked for a lot of this and had a very lackluster pass in the first place.
In addition to Blood Elf males getting jewelry options like female Blood Elves, Night Elf females need the tattoo options like male Night Elves because males wear jewelry and females get tattoos.
It’s super amusing to see you guys condescend these users. I’ve see equally vitriolic hate on both sides of this issue you’re clearly passionate about.
My point was that they don’t seem inclined to make older races more appealing in the first place, they didn’t put much effort into most races and then deemed their customizations complete. So if they did give every race every class, will they actually add more customization to the less popular races?
It’s not likely considering they are putting all their time and effort into dracthyr and once again ignoring feedback on customization.
they said they want to get to that point which could take over a decade given their track record LMAO
you think spamming the forums is going to reduce that? they have to contrive the lore where a void elf can and wants to wields the light. i dont see that happening anytime soon and i dont think you do either or again your wouldnt be spamming would you
all i know is i got to be a high elf paladin at the peak of the game for 15 years. youll get it when the game is even more dead multiple expansions from now
here is what you have in your way currently
makes no sense for a void elf to be interested in the light anyway. theres a lot more then hair color preventing it atm
and yea the light and void occupying the same space(inside of an elf cant contain it lmao) will stretch and fight for control leading to an ‘explosion’ its literally how the warcraft universe came into existence
In the very beginning of time, before even the cosmos existed, there was only the Light and the Void. Originally, only the Light existed as an unfettered, shifting ocean of living energy. However, as some of its energies faded and dimmed, pockets of cold nothingness were created. From the absence of Light in these spaces, a new power coalesced and came to be. This was the Void, a dark and vampiric force driven to devour all energy, to twist creation inward to feed upon itself. The Void quickly grew and began to move against the Light, and before long, the mounting tension between the two forces ignited a series of explosions that ruptured the very fabric of creation, giving birth to the physical universe.
so you can wait it out or just a play a blood elf paladin which is identical in every way to want you want
I was really saying this in passing, as a potential response to an overwhelming selection of one race. This is pretty far from my main point - regardless though:
I definitely wouldn’t agree with this. There is clear prescient with night elves, humans, straight back-orcs…etc.
