So, I built one on my new main, got it to tier 3, because I’m trying to farm Apexis for one of the mounts I don’t have. Do I even need to bother doing any of the buildings, except for that achievement for defending them during an Invasion?

no cap garrisons are teh best ting evr put in game n all the potential is there to be certified amazeballs if blizz jus updated em to make relevant to current exps n added a couple rooms for housing

I built mine just for the extra teleport on this Druid (created and leveled him through Mists of Pandaria: Remix), but even then I don’t use it since you can have three rotation Hearthstones (primary/toy, Tome of Town Portal, and Stone of the Hearth do not share cooldowns with one another) and t he Dalaran Hearthstone on top of all that. Maybe when Blizzard adds the Warlords of Draenor Timewalking raid I’ll use it once that week just to get to Ashran a little bit faster.

If you’re an xmog collector, there are 32 unique xmogs per class that were “brought back.” Because it takes a MASSIVE time investment (3 months or so) to make them, you can also make a lot of money if you find someone willing to buy them (they sell for 15k+ on my server, when most xmog doesn’t even sell for 1k).
Some of the new Delves require underwater breathing, and you can make underwater breathing pots for free, all with comps that come out of your Garrison.
If you’re a Pet collector, you’ll have access to the fastest way to level pets.
Depending on how much you interact with old content, there are a lot of benefits to having a Garrison. But if you just do M+/Raiding/PvP … then it’s little more than another recall point if you get stuck.

I keep the trading post to have my own auction house. The pvp requirements for the bot has been removed so getting it is easier.

need to get your followers maxed if you want to get the apexis at a decent rate, that is the hard part, but there is follower boosts you can buy, but once you get a bunch of followers maxed out there is some gold makers still from that mission table, mount, giant growth, legion medallion and the huge ogre cache all bring decent gold.

Be a chad and do the Warlor of Draenor achievement.
To me its one of the most prestige achievements that ill have always a respect for when i see someone with the title.

I have the portal in my garrison to Org on 1 or 2 chars, but what are the requirements to get it? I’ve had new mains and alts since WOD and I can’t find a clear path on google how to get the portal added. Is there a portal to Ashran from my garrison, too?
Never heard of a portal to the Org/SW from the Garrison. There’s the portal to town, and then the portal to the city. But I don’t know of one in the Garrison itself.

I did pick up the two guys from BRF and HFC.
If you get your garrison to level 3 a portal to Ashran appears at the top of one of the towers. You can then use the Stormwind/Orgrimmar portal in Ashran.

The first three had the same tint.
But then 4, 5, 6 each had a unique tint. At some point (sorry I forget), they removed the ability to get those tints.
And then rather recently (end of SL/beginning of DF), they made it possible to craft those lost 3 tints.
But it is not an easy process. Well… it’s easy, it’s just that you can only make small steps each day, transmuting/creating things to make the tints.
I took me something like three months to make all 32 tints. That’s EVERY DAY. So figure 90 days worth of chores. Again-- they’re EASY. You basically just press a button or something similar. But you have to stay on it if you want all the pieces.
I guess if you had 3-4M to just BUY all the pieces that would work too, but because there’s so much effort involved in making them, almost no one does it. I almost never see them in the AH.

And if you’re a mount/pet/xmog collector, there is also a portal in Ashran that will take you right to Tanaan Jungle, right in front of Hellfire Citadel.
