Is there any community left here?

I have had this idea in my head for awhile and I’d like to publically propose it today;

A guild but only for people who hate each other. An entire guild comprised exclusively of people who just hate each other’s guts. Where you can freely and openly hate without societal judgement on a regular basis.

That person you really enjoyed arguing with in trade? They’re here, in a guild, with you. You can do that every single day now. You don’t have to go through the awkward process of maybe friending them and explaining “Hi, I am not friending you because I like you but because I hate you and I get a deep sense of satisfaction from yelling at you and being yelled at by you. Can we do this again sometime?”. Those days are gone.

No more coming back the next day at the exact same time, desperately scrolling through trade chat, looking for their name so you can kick things back up again. No more nervously hoping that it was as good for them as it was for you, checking over and over again to see if they’ve friended you.

Enough! Let’s just make a guild where we can argue and hate each other openly and proudly.

This isn’t meant with even a hint of irony. I truly want this to happen. It’s my dream.

No, the game has phasing and cross-realms so community realms are long dead. LFG tool(Looking for group) auto groups you in que for raids and dungeons so you’ll never get good or bad rep, because youll never see the same people ever again.

I’m a returning pre patch maintenance player of 6 hours. Did I miss anything

how do you figure? I had two 60s, khaylidra and grudgemaster, guild was dark knights, started on illidan and transferred servers to whatever server they gave us the option to transfer when they did the first ones, raided all the time, loved to go harass low level AC with nothing but a deep dive helmet and fishing rod?

from what pedestal do you question my legitimacy as a vanilla player lol?

yeah gorgonnash lol i made a awful typo haha

and oh, i dont ball that hard, one monitor for me haha

If you really are a returning vanilla player you may not know there’s this thing where players like to say they played during vanilla when in fact they didn’t and are seeking internet points.

It’s around, but it takes time to find a good guild, and you may need to server hop (find the guild first, then move to the server it’s on). Chat is just trolling now. Social conversations all are on discord if in text, or voice. Many people are not social, even in guilds, because the game requires far less social interaction in terms of its core gameplay than it did when you last played.

that kinda sucks though lol…the social bit was the fun part

I haven’t been on a non-RP server since MOP, but we still have a great community OP. Outside of guilds and RP servers, I’m not sure if server communities are a thing.

/sniff

I feel personally attacked.

Yeah, OP, my dude, Vanilla days are gone. There are no more 40-man raids, so the huge guilds of your memories in WoW are over.

WoW community, however, is still very much about joining a guild. If you have friends who still play the game, go where they are. If you don’t, shop around until you find people you gel with, and hang out a while to see if it’s a fit. Once you find the right guild, you’ll be right back where you wanted to be.

no more 40 mans? woah, that is def a suprise, so are there any large raids anymore or is it all 5 man stuff? and ok…i think i might end up doing this guild finder thing, i was thinking about maybe just making one but the more i look into modern guild structures it seems like a pretty dense thing to do these days

There is no community only Herne… Also I raided your fridge and I live in here now  zuuuuul!.

RP servers are where community is really at in game, our trade chats and stuff are always popping.

We also sacrifice your first born to the great sword in Silithus to appease the gods.

it’s 2020, get a 2nd monitor lol

also gorg… rip. my guild was formed in the early days of gorg. it was a great server, then …guilds started leaving. We hung on, but once Epidemic left, it was clear things were just going to get worse. By the time my guild (Tempest, at the time) finally left we were the only 25 man raid group on the server. There were a handful of 10 mans left, but not many.

the server was a very slow circling of the drain. I heard they merged it a few years ago, but it’s still ridiculously low pop.

leave.
things are much, much better on high pop servers.

You mean avoid a majority of horde ones cause they are full of immature people and horde have most of the troll/immature players right now.

Its 2020 but its also COVID. People lost jobs and are getting infected daily…its not easy to just buy a 2nd monitor like that anymore. One monitor is plenty enough while we struggle through these hard times.

Is this why Metzen won’t answer my calls? D:

I just rolled, sort of on a whim, on an RP server, and I have found the sense of community there is much stronger.

I don’t RP, and it seems a fair number of others don’t either, but just being in an environment that accepts and encourages those who do like to RP seems to make a big difference.

there is a lot of community to be had with guilds and friends but also with M+. you start to get involved with a community in higher end M+ or PvE.
