Morality has nothing to do with facts. None. Morality, politics, tribal alliegances, have no bearing on truth. They have a lot to do with the spread of misinformation and outright lies though. Sometimes a mark of “faith” to the group is to trust those lies in the absence of data. Even in the face of factual information that proves otherwise, some people will stick to the “group” beliefs.
Like…how some people are so willing to believe what they see on a streamer’s channel in a highly edited video, or what they read on a social media website, or what they read on some “news” site that caters to their views.
This is not simple - and you trying to reduce it to opinions, morality, or “not smart enough” is disingenuous I think.
Facts don’t care about any of those things and those who skew facts or jump to conclusions in the absence of all the facts don’t care either.
What bothers me most is those that know better - but are happy to use the followers to cash in on. They feed their beliefs, spin drama, present half truths, outright lies. Then just ask for subs/donations/merch purchases. I mean, you can buy branded anything that backs some sort of group you want to be a part of.
It almost always comes down to $$ in the end. Someone is profiting off the snake oil and “wellness”, the hate and victimhood, the fear mongering.
This goes back hundreds, and probably thousands of years.
I agree with this. That’s why I stated it was problematic. People will choose not too look into facts if it goes against their moral beliefs. That’s why I think more information is always the best route.
I believe that putting comments, that contradict the message you have just read right below it, is a good way to interject another narrative. Leading to more truth over all. After all is said and done people getting more information is always better for the whole. It’s just not very convenient to the few.
Notice how 75% of your examples are arguably a net positive result of censorship.
Really shows where your beliefs lie here lmao
I mean, WoW might go away some day, but I doubt sincerely it’ll be because people left over not being able to call others idiots.
Though I’m sure someone will try to pivot to that as the reason, and everyone with half a functioning brain will latch onto it lmao
Facebook was a key contributor and distributor of misinformation during the COVID-19 pandemic that killed millions of people, and when told to manage his platform better, he tried to frame it as the Biden administration yelling at him and attempting to control the narrative. He’s a whiney loser who wanted to victimize himself for being held accountable lol
Like I suppose it’s your right to let your platform self-regulate, but when it’s pretty obvious your platform isn’t self-regulating, then I don’t really care how bad you felt that Biden yelled at you. People were dying and Facebook was allowing for the distribution of posts that told people to munch on horse paste because it supposedly cured you of COVID-19 lmao
In times of crisis, certain things take precedent. Sorry not sorry.
Or, his ad revenue and user base is down because Meta hasn’t done a single innovative thing in over 10 years now and feels significantly dated and left in 2013, while his competitors live in 2025. Zuckerberg is on record basically admitting that he wants his market share from TikTok back, which I suppose is partly why the app is now being banned just short of a blatant censorship move by the government lol
I don’t know of a single person in my generation who uses Facebook any more other than to give life updates to their older family members still stuck on the platform. It’s a garbage site even without considering the “censorship” lmao
Part one: You just have to be carful who is choosing these regulations.
Part two: WoW’s fine those were just off comments. But poor decisions can ruin any company. Not that telling people to be respectful is a poor choice. Once again, it’s balance.
Part 3: Some things people said were accepted later, open communication would have saved lives.
Part 4: Facebook is out of date partly due to it’s over censorship. Give people a place to speak and they will. WOW forums, case in point. 30yo tech still being used.
