People saw the TV show House and really took it to heart.
I donāt get it. You want to read chat but not type. So donāt type?
I mean⦠least they recognize their bad behaviors and want a way to help curb it?
Iām just trying to find the positives here ._.
Do like I do. Only play with friends and guildmates in Discord. No need for chat, and no chance to be reported by entitled cancel cultists.
TIL that the consequences of my actions are not actually real. It is only because of ācancel cultistsā and āsoftā people that my rudeness and language might be thought of poorly.
I wish I knew that my parents, grandparents, every teacher, almost every boss, and any professional situtuation I was in was full of cancel cultists!
They would not accept swearing, name calling, insults, slurs, or any number of rude and disruptive things we might say.
I thought all along that there were some basic social rules and standards of politeness and I was expected to follow those, or deal with the consequences of my own actions.
Man, to think how wrong I have been for so so long. They were just entitled cancel cultists after all. I was not responsible for understanding rules and following them.
/sarcasm
Really though, I think the entitled ones are the ones who think they can agree to rules, then get upset when they have to actually follow those rules or deal with consequences. Much like speeding - we know the limits but some people act all entitled and offended when they happen to get caught.
Mileage may vary. Some of us grew up 50 years ago when MTv and HBO were all the rage, and people like this littered my younger and more impressionalbe days:
Then the countryās paradigm shifted around 2010, and I had to adapt. My way of adapting was sticking to like-minded people. Your personal offense to my personal opinion is evidence.
Yes, we did grow up then, or watched kids grow up. Those were on Cable because they were not allowed on network TV because of the language. They were intentionally shocking and fringe, just like Radio Shock Jocks.
None of that makes it mainstream and how you are supposed to treat others on a day to day basis, esp strangers.
I am not remotely offended. I have no idea why you would think a reply to you is ātaking offenseā. People mistake offense for others rolling their eyes and just saying āthis is not appropriate hereā.
If someone wants to go watch those things, they can. Show up to work, school, or in a game talking like that around strangers and they are going to tell you to take it somewhere else.
I donāt get it. People canāt seem to realize that what is ok around their personal friends, or in a comedy club, is not ok in some other spaces.
You have a built-in addon called not participating in chat.
If you canāt help but be rude in chat right now, why would an addon that can be removed at any time do anything?
Which is why I said what I originally said⦠I keep it with friends. Your offense was to my comment about the culture and its censorship. But thatās ok. We all have our own lives, our own opinions, and our own perceptions. Iām not about to use my Friday night language in church on Sunday. I know there is a time and place. And yes, people who cannot read a room deserve consequences. But my original response to the OP still stands. Get some friends, keep it in Discord, and stay out of chat. Far fewer people to offend.
Certainly, we agree on that. Far too many people donāt understand the concept of ātime and a place for thingsā.
Agreed. Time and place always trumps personal humor or perspective.
How about you just stop typing ?
My favorite part about posts like this is calling everyone else soft and easily offended, but the person themselves is the one getting soft and offended because they donāt like how people react to them.
My assumption was he got banned and was mad about it. Or scared of being banned due to being reported often. Not so much bothered by what the players say, as much as worried about getting banned from the game.
Thatās what Iām reading also must have said a slur or something
You can turn chat off in settings, and if I remember last time I looked your friends can still contact you, see pings, gestures etc. I turned off mine a long time ago.
This is understandable as those people were being shown a level of respect. But does a video game that you play to relax warrant the same level of respect. Some people like to berate each other and be disrespectful to friends are peers. Is telling someone what they allowed to do to have fun in a group the the correct course. As of the TOS these days it is. But being disrespectful is subjective in many cases.
Prob cause you have communication skills unlike op
You and your friends can āberate each otherā to your heartās content.
Do it to strangers in public channels and youāre affecting how other people have fun who might not agree with your definition.
Itās not complicated.
