Hi, I am asking because I’m no longer friends with someone and they added me on their in-game character friends list, and I really do not want to them know when I come online now. I’ve heard that realm changing will remove me, but I really do not want to do that.
Does changing my character name or putting their character on ignore remove me from theirs to stop them from seeing me online? Thank you.
Unfortunately, the only way to get removed is a character transfer or faction change I believe does it too.
The paid name change does NOT remove you from their list. It updates to your new name in their list.

If they add you as a friend using your character’s name and realm, (not Btag friend), even if you change your character’s name, yes they can still see when you log onto that character or any others they have put in their friend list.
Even ignoring their characters, they can still see you.

/pokes Nick…but ignore is working “perfectly”, right? Maybe I should make a new thread suggesting that the in-game ignore block the other player seeing your online status

You know… that’s actually a really good idea.

You absolutely should! It wouldn’t hurt any to suggest it and it would help so many that have issues with in-game harassment.

I’m afraid Perl is correct. If you were to change your character’s name it would simply update on all associated lists, friends, guild, etc…
Transferring or Faction Changing would remove you, as that essentially creates a new character on the destination realm or faction.
Outside of that, placing them on ignore just ignores any contact from them. If they are circumventing that to contact you, that may be considered Ongoing Harassment and can be reported as such.
