Are you freaking kidding me. Just…stop. there is a dude, you talk to him and fill out a request. Absolutely NOTHING tells you it might not be what you want. There is absolutely no way for a person to know that. And in the order it literally has a place for notes where I typed full quality please. So…I indeed did. Please…just stop your nonsense…I’m not a moron…I shouldn’t need to study something outside of the game before I play the game to know how to play the game. That attitude is absolutely nonsense. It’s a crap design…plain and simple.
Personally if someone posts a note for max quality and I cant do it, or dont want to use concentration, I won’t make it. But it doesn’t mean someone wont just ignore it and make it at a lower quality anyway. And no, you cant refund anything.
There is the introductory questline to the crafting order system in dragonflight that explains it and the preview of the item when you are placing the order which shows it as a one-star craft. I’m not calling you a moron, but if you ignore the explanations in the game, that’s not a design issue.
Well…forgive my tone. My apologies. I legitimately don’t remember a crafting questline and honestly I fly through the quests so fast I wouldn’t have known what I was doing anyway. If the explanation is in the game then yea my bad. Still think it’s dumb. Lol…it should be explained at the crafter before you place the order. A popup window with a two sentence explanation would have saved me from placing the order.
No one should have to spam beg trade chat for crafting. That is a crap system. The public work orders were originally supposed to alleviate that when they were first announced before added to testing, but the system changed during beta so that public orders were turned into this useless version to promote private ones.
Nowhere in that intro does it tell you that public orders are useless.
They are useless. No one is ever going to get what they want from a public order. It’s a waste of gold and resources. And nothing from the intro tells you that you’ll just end up screwed if you ask for something specific.
Public orders aren’t useless. I’ve had multiple items made for me using public orders and they’ve turned out great.
You just run the risk of not getting max quality.
If you want to massively improve your chances of getting something made max quality, simply add finishing reagents to your craft when you make the order. Only crafters who have specialized enough to use finishing reagents will be able to make the item you need and that means they likely have max quality available or they’re close enough to it to use concentration to finish the job.
Ok so this now even makes less sense to me because how does a person who can’t make a high quality item even have access to be able to craft an item with full quality resources in the first place. If 2500 gold isn’t enough to click a button for someone that alone is a giant flaw in the system. To enable players of not enough skill to waste a person’s resources simply because they just can…is honestly one of the most fundamentally broken forms of logic I have ever seen in a video game…ever.
A person goes out and farms mats to make 20-30k for a piece of gear. Then a person who basically just farted around with some profession can just destroy all of that other players work, and take 2500 gold for it at the same time…even though he literally CAN’T craft the piece that was asked for. This…is… pathetically stupid.
Crests, treatises, weaverline, pvp items, embellishments that are presimably going on a pvp item, that one guy who asked for 10 bandages in public orders for… Reasons?
I’m not going to defend the system, that’s not my jerb. I agree for the most part that the public order system is problematic.
just don’t use public orders for things for which you care about quality. it’s insane to me that someone would farm 20-30k worth of materials than throw them out to the public and hope for the best.
find a crafter. unless you’re on an extremely dead server cluster, you should be able to. If you can’t find one immediately wait until prime time and try again.
Lol…I would have been happy to find a crafter I tried for multiple hours. The only reason I did the public order was because I figured I wouldn’t mind waiting when I logged off. I was getting ready to…a few minutes literally after asking in trade for hours…It.was completed in the public order. Had I known there was even a chance of getting a non quality item…I never would have made the order. I literally just thought private was instant and public meant you had to wait…nothing told me otherwise.
